Coach, rather than manager, as I don't think they actually have an U21 side as such, just players who are under that age. By the sound of it he will be working with the academy of all ages and young professionals to help them break through to the first team.

Good luck to him. His spell in charge here wasn't ideal but it was a tough time to manage us. Nicho has since shown what is possible, on even a fraction of that again, but I don't have any ill feeling towards Hargreaves. He was the captain who almost single handedly dragged us over the finish line to even reach the play-offs in 2009, then lifted the trophy and shouted "this is for you". A slightly below par spell in charge when we needed a great escape still leaves him well in credit in my opinion.

As far as I remember, Hargreaves was a coach at Exeter with the younger players and also at Bournemouth. I think he was well respected at both clubs so perhaps working with the under 21s is his niche. I'm with Gulliball. Despite his unsuccessful managerial spell, he's well in credit with me for leading the team back into the league when I didn't think it would happen in my lifetime. I'm not sure it's going to happen a second time around, but I'm hanging on just in case .......

I wish Chris Hargreaves well at Bristol Rovers. I will always remember him for the Gulls as the man who stood out as a real leader at Wembley, not as a manager. I have no enmity to him whatsoever, but I do for some members of the then Board (one in particular, who screwed us up well and proper).

I agree with you all. A good coach, by all accounts, great servant to the club, a nice bloke and family man. Just didn't do it as a manager. Deserves to get his career back on track (and not as a pundit!).

Good luck to him! I have always liked CH and will never forget what a great captain he was for the club.

Hargreaves was the wrong appointment when he was brought in at Torquay and an experienced fire fighter would have kept us up but he cannot be blamed for a naïve board appointing the wrong man.
I got the impression that he had his hands tied behind his back in building a conference team as a huge proportion of his budget was used on old and tired players (Tongue, Benyon, Harding etc.). He made the mistakes that any experienced manager could have at the level but also showed some signs of promise.

I am sure that he will be a great coach and mentor for the young players at BR.

Good luck to CH. As he said before the Lincoln game it was the right job at the wrong time.
