MOTM - Macclesfield

Post by Gulliball »

A new season, a new team, a new sense of optimism for the future... The Man of the Match feature will be running again though, with the same format as previous seasons. All you have to do is reply below with up to five players, in order, who impressed you today. Note, this is for match going fans only.

Luke Young won last season, and full results from the last five seasons can be viewed on this site's homepage.

For me the back line won us this game, based on that.

Butler- Our best signing.
Smith- Excellent game
Exodus-Very sound. Quick for such a big guy.
Angus-Typical no nonsense defending.
Spiess-As it turned out a match winning save in the first half.

Several other good, solid perfomances today against a useful side. Good to see Richards back on form, also liked Fenwick and Carmichael. Joe Quigley battled gamely, but mostly on his own. Murombedzi in and out of the game a bit, but when he had the ball, he looked dangerous.

Got to agree we had a lot of good lads out there today but I think Carmichael was superb for someone coming in and not knowing the others he put in an assured performance and played some good through balls as well as protecting the back four
