That's more good news on top of three signings by Cox which are building up confidence and anticipation for the season, not in the expectation of a promotion challenge this time (though that's not impossible) but in the realisation that the club is working hard to build solid foundations for the future. Though there's still much work to do, the threat of administration is already receding..

Is this good news?
Weren't we expecting an ex-international goalkeeper/coach? Who would have been our first choice keeper, whilst training lavercombe. Now we have an extra expense, provided we do actually recruit another keeper and let's hope we do, otherwise veysey is our number 2.
Plus this is the guy who was 'training' Martin rice last season.

Personally I am pleased he has returned. Sometimes you can't train someone that is at best below average in ability to improve. But agree that he has to now refocus his training methods, I'm sure cox will tell him just that.StretfordGull wrote:Is this good news?

Where would we have found the money to employ an ex-international goalkeeper, even assuming he would want to come to Torquay in the National League? And even if we did, we would presumably still have to pay Kenney Veysey to be on gardening leave. As for Martin Rice, whilst he was never going to be a top rate goalkeeper, some people seem to forget he improved enormously during his time here with Veysey.StretfordGull wrote:Is this good news?

Delighted for Kenny, he's top bloke, seen his work first hand, Kenny Veysey is a very good keeper coach. Didn't see/hear to many complaining about Kenny when he was working with Bevan, Poke, Olejnik, and of course Lavercombe seems highly rated enough, you can only coach what's put in front of you.

Exactly. As well as coaching Rice, a player already at the top of his game who was never, ever going to get any better he also coached Lavercombe to be a fans favourite.forevertufc wrote:Delighted for Kenny, he's top bloke, seen his work first hand, Kenny Veysey is a very good keeper coach. Could this re-employment be linked with the proposed training ground share with Argyle? perhaps he will also help to train some of their players/youngsters, & they will pay some of his wages. If this is correct then it could start a trend where we share some staff with them.
