So i thought i'd try and steer the forum away from the state of paralysis it currently finds itself in, waiting for the takeover to be complete - we can't even properly speculate on future transfers as we have no idea on the wage budget.
I had the rare experience of listening to Danny Baker on the radio on Saturday - not something I would do as I find him annoying and i'd usually be playing footy. But to my joy on comes a Torquay fan, living in Aberdeen, and tells a lovely little story of how he took his daughter to an away Torquay game one Saturday, travelling something like 6/7 hours to get there for 3pm. As he arrives and get's out the car, he can hear a whistle blow and a mass exodus of the stadium ensues and the realisation hits him that it was a midday kickoff. Back in the car for another 6/7 trek home.
My favourite matchday experience was a mid week game at Barnet (1-1 i think), in the days of Rodney Jack. The small band of fans is singing his praises as usual and making jokes to the fat center backs of Barnet. One chap must have been new to 'banter' or had never had the courage to yell out at a match and thought this was his moment. With the away crowd in top spirits and in the middle of a interval between 'rodney jack jack jack' chants, he yells out 'Rodney, get your willy out, that'll scare them!'. The silence and awkward coughs that ensued for what felt like an eternity will never be forgotten by myself.
Best matchday error
I went to Mansfield twice in our promotion season under Leroy - once for the one that was cancelled at about 7.35 due to a frozen pitch and then for the re-arranged match - both Tuesday night kick-offs.
Two seasons later after we'd be relegated back to League 2, I went for the away match on a Saturday afternoon. I'd left Leeds at about 1.45 so was pushing it and the weather was tipping it down so traffic was slow and I parked up in the car park at 3pm. I dashed to the stand, rushed through the turnstile and made it into the stand. My initial reaction was surprise at the number of Torquay fans, before I realised that it was no longer the away end but now two thirds full of home fans. I had to be escorted by the stewards out of the stand, past the main stand with the game started to a good deal of abuse to the away end at behind the far goal.
Of course the main error was to go to that match where we got stuffed in a truly dismal performance, although I did see Carl Priso play which must be something of a collectors item.

Best I can do is away at Woking in 20089/9 when a group of us got off the train from London. We followed the sign, and walked for about 2 miles before we decided that it didn't look like a football match was happening so asked in a garage. We'd walked quite a long way in the wrong direction. Apparently it was quite common for some youths to turn the sign in the wrong direction. Missed kick off and it was thoroughly annoying, didn't even get a beer.

My most embarrassing error was similar to Exiles above!!
Darlington away (09/10 season??) in there posh new ground they werent in for very long!! Took my little sister to her first ever Torquay game. We'd arrived just after 3pm and couldnt see any stewards around to get directions to the away end so me being the clever guy I am, headed straight for the nearest one, fatal error that was!! Baring in mind I had on a bright yellow shirt, the daft bint in the turnstile obviously doesnt click and lets us go through unchallenged. Walk out into the stand and my heart sinks as I'm stood amongst a sea of black and white!! It was very fortunate that a couple of nice home fans spot the predicament and sit us down infront of them and tell us to stay quiet haha!!
Got moved over by the stewards at half-time but walking pitch side infront of the home fans is possibly the most red faced I have ever been!!!
