I read a while ago the chairman of Lincoln City said he would like to see div 2 and the conference amalgamise into north and south divisions.When I started supporting Torquay this of course was the case.The obvious advantage is less travelling and the cost cutting of overnight stops , possibly not so much for Torquay,but not to have long trips to the north east and north west would be an advantage to us.Back in the day the line drawn was north midlands , Shrewsbury being the cut off area. I am a bit supprised that no one else has taken up the cause as most clubs in these two divisions are short of cash and this idea seems a good way of saving money.Any thoughts

Yes indeed we were, however just to add yesterdays cup defeat may have delivered a semi-fatal blow to our clubs finances or worse, and almost certainly delivered a fatal blow to any hopes of our club financing promotion back to the football with in the next few years, so as a result I would suggest now would be a good time for our club to jump right on the regionalised Leagues bandwagon.

As I said in the other thread, I don't think this would work financially and would actually be the death of clubs like Torquay. The reduced sponsorship and gate receipts from a regionalised league would see us in non league obscurity forever, if we could survive that life long...

No need to lobby for a Regional League as we'll soon pass through one on the way down to District League level where Phillips can be a really big gobshite at a level suited to his amateurism. Upton Athletic, Waldon Athletic, Watcombe Wanderers etc lookout : Phillips is on way to lord it over you as leader of Torquay AFC (Amateur Football Club).

Probably not worth discussing to much because it's unlikely to happen, however how would a regional League 2 lead to lower gate receipts and sponsorship when if League 2 South had started this season it would have teams like; Plymouth, Exeter, Bristol Rovers, Portsmouth, Luton, Cheltenham and FGR.

I would say that would lead to much higher gate receipts probably lead to greater sponsorship opportunities, and more importantly would lead to much lower overheads for the club, after yesterdays defeat were consigned to the non-league pretty much forever with out significant new investment anyway, with out the much needed cup money we are most likely going to see further budget cuts.
