Wish I'd posted this before last weeks match as I am now accusing myself of being a happy clapper lol.

Is it me or is CH doing a pretty good job quietly and efficiently under quiet difficult circumstances?
Went to watch the game at Dorchester pre season and thought we could be in the poop here. Since then he has brought on a side that seem to be gelling slowly but well. I sometimes, like the rest of us wonder about his starting line up but of course there always factors we are unaware of. I wonder if he can keep this side together during transfer windows but that's football we'll have to move on. Hope we do well today against an almost unknown quantity but so far I'm impressed.

Start Bowman? Nah, bench yes Starting line up no, he's gotta learn.

Bowman is our best striker by a country mile - he'll learn not to get sent off far better by being on the pitch than on the bench.

He has learnt! He's had to sit the last three out, and rightly so, but he didn't shoot anyone. He just got wound up and put his head in. Our best forward by miles and there is no chance that CH won't start him.

Not starting Bowman would be a silly idea. Clearly our best striker and alongside Ofori who should have some confidence after his two goals last Saturday, we could definitely beat Nuneaton by a few goals. Furthermore, we have Ashley Yeoman who is fit now, who can be used as a substitute to bring on in the second half (70th minute for example).

As Hargreaves said, we are strong up front at the moment and we should use that to it's full potential.

I wouldn't start him you would that's fair enough that's a healthy argument.

My point of the thread was CH is doing well under difficult constraints and long may it continue.

CH is, in the circumstances, doing an excellent job. Last season's prevailing defeatist mood has completely disappeared. We've turned the corner, we're headed in the right direction, and our players are determined and hungry for success. We're going to win this division by a good few miles..

Like most seasons I will give him at least 10 games before deciding however so far the results table shows him to be an average Conference manager.

Fair enough about the ten games it. Always sensible to give a reasonable amount of time to new manager/players.

Disagree though that the table shows him to be an "average conference manager" . If were still there at the end of the season then you're right, but so soon after the season starts league position is as much down to luck, suspensions, injuries and who your fixtures have been against than anything else. When you factor in the high earners he hasn't been able to shift, and bowman getting banned (our best forward, surely would have had at 4 more points with him playing) I would say CH has had a pretty good start so far-definitely going in the right direction.

Long way to go, though.

I would start Bowman on the bench today. I haven't seen enough of him to say he is our no 1 striker. Pierce is probably our best defender, however he sees himself on the bench at present.
I think our performances are improving but I am not getting carried away after 1 away victory.

As said on the match thread, he's had a 3 game ban and club fine, don't see the point in punishing some one over and over again for the same mistake, as alluded to on this thread, wont know if he's learnt the lesson unless you play him, I've seen enough of him to personally believe he carries our biggest goal threat.

I'd be the first to bang on about ownership of the shirt, if a player gets injured or suspended and someone comes into the team and does really well, then they stay in the team, and I think here lies the difference between Pearce and Bowman, since that first game mauling at Gateshead, we've barely put a foot wrong at the back and only conceded 2 goals, our defence is ranked 6th out of 24.

Apart from the last game at Lincoln we've barely scored any goals, O'Archie looks a real handful, but in no way a natural goal scorer, as for the rest I think the words 'score' and 'brothel' spring to mind, that's why Bowman should be and I think will be restored to the starting line up, our attack is ranked 11th from 24.

This will be a test of CH'S management credentials, when your on an unbeaten run and won your last game 3.1 there is a massive case not to change the starting line up, so that will take some balls from CH, but my opinion on this is, Bowman back into the team, today.

Average Conference manager, difficult call and not one that should be based just on results.
He has passion and seems to be installing belief in players that didn't previously have that belief.

Injuries, players being tempted away and other factors in holding together a gelled team are all going to test his metal but so far I'm suitably impressed where I wasn't at the back end of last year.

Who knows, will we hear "that's for you" again?

You cannot make judgements on a new side so quickly, I think just before Christmas is a good time to judge him. I think he proved last season that he can build a side I don't see where Kevs coming from.

Am I correct in saying that TQY's longest successive league wining streak is 5 games. Roll on Woking and Dover?

Dover, yes. Woking however are currently unbeaten and have won 4 in a row. Clash of the titans, methinks!
