"Met Office Warnings Issued For:
Torbay
Yellow alert of rain
From:
0600 on Mon 25 August
To:
2350 on Mon 25 August
Updated 6 hours ago
Heavy rain will spread from the southwest on Bank Holiday Monday.

The public should be aware that there may be some impacts to holiday traffic and outdoor activities."

At 10:00 and 13:00 there is green (heavy rain) going over us. the rain seems to go away at 16:00
Even for our pitch a postponement in August surely isn't good. However that level of rain could call it off.

Little chance of it being off, even if it is as heavy as is stated. We've had little rain near the ground today, and over the last few weeks we haven't at any point had sustained rainfall.

Last year our postponements came when a heavy deluge followed a consistently wet period (I.e the whole of late winter early spring!) as the drainage wasn't good enough to cope. There should be plenty of room for te water to dissipate at this time of year.

I was going to drive down today but decided I couldn't do the bank holiday traffic on the 303 on Monday evening. And given the rain forecast, I think it was a good decision.

If this game is called of due to the pitch being unplayable I would expect multiple sackings by 5pm Monday, that would be to level beyond incompetent. All pitch's are in great condition at this time of year should be able to cope with any amount of rain.

Wasn't having a go, December/January the expected rainfall could cause a problem with water saturated pitch's, if the pitch was absolutely bone dry, rock hard, heavy rainfall over a short period could cause a problem of water sitting on the top, but that shouldn't be a problem with a professionally cared for football pitch either, so the pitch should be playable tomorrow regardless.

Yeah realised you weren't having a goal. But I bet some local games will be called of like totnes or something. Luckily we have drainage

No worries ethantufcbaker. Any exiles thinking of avoiding the game to today because of this forecast don't, it's not raining at the moment and the forecast seems to have changed, now suggesting it will clear up through this afternoon.

Hmmm was thinking of going today and its chucking it down here. You wouldn't think there would be any likelyhood of this game being called off in august. Couldn't happen could it................

The Groundstaff are cutting and marking the pitch as I type and the rain overnight has saved them from having to water the pitch. The game is not at risk barring rainfall of biblical proportions to the extent that Noah had to contend with quite a few seasons ago. So no excuses get down to Plainmoor for what should be a good game today. Best regards, Andrew

Thanks for that update - useful because it is absolutely bucketing it down here (80 miles away) and if you had this for the next six hours I wouldn't be at all confident!

Thanks for the update, the pitch should be zippy so hoof ball might not work.
