New kit manufacturer?
New kit manufacturer?
This is just a guess but training bibs and kit appear to show the likes of CH etc in Joma kit, rather than Sondico (although one or two are wearing Sondico).
I think Joma will mean us sporting template kits rather than the bespoke ones Vandanel and Sondico have provided, which I think will be a shame.
I know a lot of people have been Dissatisfied with them, but I think Vandanel/Sondico have given us some decent kits over the last decade. Hopefully, if we have switched to Joma, we won't end up with some old teamwear kit like Exeter's version of our colours.

The training shirts that the players had on yesterday are on the 'Joma' website under 'training wear'. They are dark grey with thin horizontal stripes £9.75.
Likewise, Exeter's 3rd kit, last season, was on the Joma website that any old park team could order in.goodluckgull wrote:The training shirts that the players had on yesterday are on the 'Joma' website under 'training wear'. They are dark grey with thin horizontal stripes £9.75.
If Joma have taken over - which is, of course, wild speculation - I wonder if Sondico will still be sponsoring the Family Stand, or like WTS are they another commercial partner, jumping ship.

I expect Hargreaves supplied them for the day, I thought everyone looked smart. Last season it looked like all colours of the rainbow before the games and players wore what they wanted.goodluckgull wrote:The training shirts that the players had on yesterday are on the 'Joma' website under 'training wear'. As I have posted on a different thread, we have changed kit suppliers from Sondico to Joma. We will have a completely new kit which means the stripes are gone !
Sorry, Supergulls, I missed that.supergulls wrote:As I have posted on a different thread, we have changed kit suppliers from Sondico to Joma. We will have a completely new kit which means the stripes are gone !
Not good news, in my view. It is likely we will end up with some template, teamwear kit. At least we had bespoke kits under the previous manufacturers.

The Champion II is Exeter's 3rd kit. Just really hope we are not going down the park team kit route. You could buy a shirt and find out it is the same set of kit Hele Rovers have ordered.

We are getting a bit like England with our frequent kit changes. Over the course of last season, I bought the home and the 3rd kit plus one of each for my children. That was around £130 and I do find this frustrating, as traditionally we have tended to keep a kit for two years.
In the past, when a new manufacturer has taken over, midway through a cycle, they have also continued the kit from before e.g. Sondico from Vandanel with previous home kit (although I realise they are part of same company).
However, if we just end up with some teamwear shirt, I won't be buying it.
Exeter were charging £40 for their 3rd kit last season, when you could buy exactly the same kit from Joma (as part of a teamwear selection) for the = of £7 a shirt, without the badges of course. So for the pleasure of having the badge and the Flybe logo on the front, Exeter fans were paying an extra £33, a shirt that looked indistinguishable from that of the local Ragarse Rovers park team.
I just hope the club have managed to negotiate a bespoke kit in the way Vandanel/Sondico were able to provide.

As long as the home and away strips are bespoke I don't mind. If the 3rd kit is a standard replica and only worn once or twice in a season it won't bother me I won't buy it. That light blue 3rd strip from last season was bespoke but was god awful!
Hopefully this company change will last so people don't have to keep buying new ones! I'd like a return of a full bright yellow kit so that the fans can look like the 'Yellow Army'

Changing the sponsor and the kit maker halfway through a cycle is understandable but like others having purchased the home shirt last season I'll be disappointed to find the team wearing a completely new kit next month. If we do also end up going down the generic route I will definitely think twice about getting it in the future.

Please, please, please, for Gods sake get it right this time TUFC. In 27 years I havent seen us have a home kit that I really like. There are some decent designs on the website, lets hope they pick a good one (bet they dont).
I really dont want to see all yellow again, it looks much better with yellow shirts, blue shorts and hopefully yellow socks. No white at all, please. If we must have white, then socks only, but only with yellow shirt and blue shorts. I know thats Brazil, but thats okay (I cant stand Brazil anymore though, dont know why I just really dislike them).
You are my torquay, my only torquay, you make me happy when skies are grey, you'll never know, just, how much i love you, so don't take my torquay away.

I couldn't care less what the shirt looks like, from a fashion point of view.
If we can have a generic kit which is the same as Wisbeach Rangers and the Dog and Duck, then so be it. Anyone sad enough to notice will get short shrift. If we can have a bespoke kit and no new players or a generic kit and a left back, guess which I'd rather we had.
Provided the new kit is predominantly yellow and none of our kits is black or very dark blue (gets lost under flood lights), then I'll be happy.
Matt.

I'm pretty sure the Vandanel and Sondico kits were standard design weren't they? They just gave us the choice of all their different designs with a couple of different colour options and we voted on it.
I don't think they were. The current stripes is, other than collar, identical in design to a template produced by a different company over 20 years ago - if it was a standard design, then it would be as such. The all black, with the seagull front was very one-off and most of the other kits we have had from them, you didn't see, say Port Vale, wearing a black and white version. The only template one we had from them was the mango Conference kit, which was the same design as Gillingham at the time.PhilGull wrote:

Many of the smaller firms, do tend to produce bespoke kits e.g. Errea, whereas anyone other than the top, top clubs get generic templates from the likes of Adidas, Nike etc. However, it is one thing having a template kit that other professional clubs would have but to have the same shirts a seven-a-side team might order from a low-brow would be disappointing.
It is not the difference between a decent shirt and a left-back; why can't we have both?
The stripes, no doubt have had their day, which I think is a shame now they are back. I would hate for us to wear a Brazil style kit - it always looks crap on anyone other than Brazil - especially ironic on poor teams who hoof the ball around. Like has been suggested, if we are to wear blue, I would like it to be blue, rather than dark blue as in the mid-to-late 90s.
I enjoy the site http://www.footballshirtculture.com and there are some horrors on there. You should see the new St Mirren away kit. Vile.
