I see that Sunderland have been fined for playing an incorrectly registered player in FIVE games but have had no points deducted. A few seasons ago, both Torquay and Hereford were fined for playing incorrectly registered players in the same match - just ONE match - AND both clubs had three points deducted. Sunderland have had no points deducted. Premiership 'clout' rears its head again. What a farce football has become.

Torquay had one point deducted in what the papers would have inevitably called "Robinsongate". Hereford lost three, but we were more harshly punished overall, because they merely lost the three points they gained by winning the match, while we lost a point we never actually gained. Even if the FA follow their own ruling in Torquay v Hereford (well, for the Hereford side at least) and deduct only points gained from matches in which the player in question featured, Sunderland still owe 1 point.

They also played him in the League Cup vs MK Dons, and it's a certainty that fielding an ineligible player will get you thrown out of a cup, it happens every year. But they weren't, and reached the final, netting money from a Wembley visit and merchandise.

It's about time that one of the clubs should stand up and be counted. This case should be taken to the High Court where it can be tested and then see if the same punishment is dished out. One of us smaller clubs will no doubt cop it in the next year/season and all clubs should put up a fund to take it further. If the FA or FIFA what to make an example of one of us then we should all stand together. They will then realise that we won't be treated this way. I would love to them threaten to disband all the lower league. We will just form our own association. Sod the FA and FIFA and all the overpaid cronies who in my opinion use corruption to line their pockets.

There is a difference between what we did and what Sunderland did.
Ji was their player, employed by them, they paid his wages and he was registered to play for them. They just didn't realise they needed to get international clearance after he returned to them from a loan spell abroad.
We played another club's player when he wasn't ours.

I would consider it fair if all proceeds they made from the League Cup final, at least, were distributed evenly across League Clubs. As happens with the Conference play-offs.

That's quite a big difference to be fair.
