Can't even to begin imagining how much we'll lose should we drop into the conference.

this highlights the silly business football is
the wage bill would allow for 35 members of staff on £50,000 a year !
when you compare Torquay's staffing cost to turnover it is in excess of 75% !
High volume retailers, such as supermarkets, would generally have a figure closer to 6 or 7% and even the most labour hungry high street shops such as hairdressers, dry cleaners etc would only be 20 to 25%

Imagine those staffing costs include managerial pay-offs? How many would be on there, just Knill or Ling and Taylor too?

Not sure you can compare on that basis, we have no stock for instance. Delivering such a service or product is people intensive, I would expect 70-80% of budget to go on staff.MidDevon wrote:this highlights the silly business football is

Most retailers have payment terms of 90 days minimum. That means when you walk in the average Sainsburys or Tescos, nether company has paid yet for anything you see !
NO business can justify a labour cost to sell of 75% and the FA are keen to do something about it with new regulations and whilst there are various ways clubs will initially get around it, I am sure most league chaimen are quietly breathing a sigh of relief !
