Looking at the weather tonight it actually doesn't look THAT bad and with a supposedly dry day tomorrow it could be very interesting

A lot of forecasted rain on Saturday early morning, I would predict a pitch inspection for then.

If anyone hears details post for everyones benefit

Twitter conversation today between the groundsman and a player suggested that the pitch is in appalling condition and has been crudely covered all day.

i think the pitch work over the summer has definitely helped, if we hadn't done it, with this much rain we would have had a lot of games postponed

After more than ninety years at Plainmoor, the club still hasn't got a decent pitch that can withstand a little inclement weather. Disgraceful..

Looking at the latest forecast the game is going to be off. Heavy rain overnight/Saturday morning, unfortunately its a gonner I'm afraid.

Has rained overnight again but dry since early morning and doesn't look to be any rain around at moment.
We really need a day(and night) without rain and as few showers as possible tomorrow morning.
Sure groundstaff are working extremely hard to get this on but it has rained both day and night for several days so there's only so much they can do.

Having read the twitter feeds of those who work tirelessly on the state of the pitch (included discussing the swimming pool next to the ground as having more chance of passing a pitch inspection and #plainmoorlakes) I am thinking it is very unlikely there will be a game on Saturday.

Regardless – I think it should be said what a great job Chris Ralph and his team have done this season (especially when you compare it to the previous one) before the haters start hitting out when/if the game is called. In no way is it their fault.

Don't like to be considered a 'hater' but do wonder what exactly we invested in over the summer? I thought the idea of relaying the pitch was to avoid these kind of problems? Obviously you can't compensate for all eventualities, but the pitch surface looks worse than ever at the current time. Money well spent ?

The pitch has stood up to a lot more this year than last Shane. The weather over the festive period and now carrying on has been the wettest I can remember. Last season - how many games were called off or reduced to an almost farcical state because of the pitch? This season has been far better and I was very impressed how good it looked for the years game against Exeter considering.

Eventually something has to give with the pressure the weather has put on it and I do not attach blame to anyone for the fact it looks like this has now occurred.

I don't think anybody will be blaming the ground staff who are doing all they can. But it is disappointing that all the wonders of modern science and technology cannot produce a pitch capable of withstanding what has been far from the worst rainy weather ever experienced. I suppose it all comes down to cost being too prohibitive for smaller clubs, and so the pitch always has a lower priority..

I think you have hit the nail on the head - it is all down to cost. My point being with the budget the guys were giving I think the job they have done exceeds the budget given.

Don't think anyone is to blame - the pitch is obviously better than last year. It hasn't stopped raining for weeks though. Clearly if its dry between now and tomorrow afternoon the game will make it.
However if it rains heavily as forecasted between midnight and kick off time tomorrow there isn't a cat in hells chance that this game is going ahead - in fact if the pitch is as bad what people are saying then I would like to see it called off today sometime. No point in faffing about when its going to be off for certain.

Whatever the technology it is still grass and soil, so I do think moaning about the latest pitch goes a bit too far.
