FA Cup Round 1, Torquay vs Rochdale 9/11/13

Buoyed by Saturday's win in the storm we move onto an even more crucial game at Plainmoor. Getting through to round 3 may have to take priority over the next few weeks and then fingers crossed that we hit the jackpot- though of course we rarely do.
All we wanted from the draw was a winnable passage to round 2 and with the greatest of respects to Rochdale we have that. They will not fancy the long trip down to Devon whilst we have renewed optimism following a morale boosting win at their fierce rivals.
Rochdale, though riding high, have lost their last two league games, and whilst they say league form goes out the window for the FA Cup, I am expecting to rock up at Plainmoor and for it to feel like a regular league match, sadly.
The Rochdale line up for their weather effected defeat by Wimbledon was:

I have not read anything so far which suggests our loanees will be cup-tied by their parent clubs for this one, though I see no reason why Championship clubs would do so, fingers crossed they are all ok to play.
After a hard fought and battling win at Gigg Lane it will be interesting to see whether AK goes with the same 11 or treats the game 'horses for courses' and mixes it up a little. Personally I am a great believer In continuity and would fully hope for the same XI which did the business in Bury.
Ticket prices have been reduced for this one.(£13 Pop, £18 Bristows) A move I applaud the club for. I was slightly critical following last season's dismal defeat to Harrogate of paying full price, and in times of austerity it is a difficult conundrum to crack. With the cup no longer holding the sparkle it once used to for so many it will be interesting to see how a price reduction affects the gates. The club are in a no win situation, if the crowd remains the same then we could effectively have lost money. I just hope this incentive adds a few onto the gate, I couldn't begin to hazard a guess at either the attendance, or the away contingent.
Just as the Bury match was crucial for league points, Saturday's game is crucial for our finances. Not merely the here and now of a win (although we can't sniff at the £18,000 prize money) but for hopefully getting to round 3 and rolling the dice. You only have to look at how E****r City got themselves out of their own (disgracefully achieved) financial mire by hitting the Jackpot with Man Utd all those years ago, it was the rebirth of their club.
Many of last season's woes manifested after our car crash to Harrogate in round one last season. Martin Ling was told there was no money to improve his squad on the back of that dismal defeat and our season started to nosedive from that point on.
It is crucial that we win this one, bring a friend along and lets try and get some cup fever generated on Saturday! Come on you Yellows!
