I know I've said it before, but what I think would get the crowd going would be an anthem, if people started, others would pick up. For instance, Rovers have, Goodnight Irene, on my iPod shuffle, Glad All Over came on, which Palace have made great. Obviously it can't ever be the same as Bubbles, or YNWA. But if it was played and a group sung the chorus, other people may pick it up. Could be worth a try?

"you are my torquay" (sunshine) is supposed to be our signature tune.
not quite an anthem, so i agree, we could do with a proper song and adopt it, like many other clubs have.
yellow by coldplay which is sometimes played at the end of matches as we leave the ground could be a shout, but then again singing in that dreary, im so depressed, pass me the pills, chris martin kind of way isnt uplifting is it?
be nice to hear our signature tune a bit more often to start with though.

Never going to work I'm afraid. Always been people trying to get an 'Anthem' going, but we simply don't have enough people interested. Lets face it, if the singers have disappeared from the middle of the pop, we've got no chance.

Sadly summed up perfectly by Danny. No chance whatsoever. I've found that crowd participation at away games is nowhere near what it was when I first began watching several years back and on the few occasions I've been to Plainmoor it's been even worse. There just isn't the desire in most people to belt out songs on a regular basis sadly. I'm up for it though.

I've been to Plainmoor on a number of occasions, I've been to Wembley twice and Old Trafford. Every time I have been, I have left barely able to speak - Dave (SG) is the same, and others around us.
I respect those that don't want to sing and chant, just as long as they aren't the same ones that then moan that the atmosphere is shite!!

Agree with 'yellow - Coldplay' depressing. Something played, that a group sing to see if it takes off. Something no nescacerily a football song

I can't really comment about Plainmoor but with all due respect Scott, Wembley and the Old Trafford play off finals are probably going to have fans who will sing as there are thousands of them. Try a wet Tuesday night in Rotherham and you get a different story. Although admittedly we do create a lot of noise generally wherever we are bearing in mind the small numbers and the even smaller still the number that wish to sing. Shrewsbury away in the semi for me still remains the best atmosphere at a Gulls match I've been to and I went to Old Trafford too.

I do like the idea of an anthem, but I also hear what Andy and Danny are saying.
For any anthem/ song to be successful, it must be simple, easy to sing to and ideally with as few words to sing as possible. Remember that not all fans want to sing line after line of a song, but can manage the odd shout of 'Torquay'
How about The Liquidator? The song Chelski fans sing to whenever they play at home.
All we would have to do is obviously sing Torquay instead of Chelsea and clap - simples! :~D

If it were to work, then it would be best to pick something original, that Gulls fans would feel they own........

Liquidator sounds really good I think. Although Chelsea sing it, it's catchy and easy. Just clapping and one word, if people can't do that..

...but it's Chelsea........again......why can we not find something original and Torquay ?

How about 'Widecombe Fair'? And instead of singing 'Tom Brewer' etc., sing the players' names out..?
