Praise from Pompey

Post by Modgull »

I was delighted to read the letter from the Portsmouth fan published on the OS yesterday.

Two things particularly gladdened my heart.

First, was the way in which the Club (particularly Dave and Andrew Candy) had presented itself to visiting supporters. It can only help the Club to be known as a good place to visit - bigger gates = better atmosphere and more money and therefore more resources for the playing side. Especially since the locals stubbornly refuse to support their local club - apart from the loyal 2,300 or so.

Second, was the willingness of a visiting supporter to let not just us know but also the powers that be in the game. Well done to him and his mates.

Of course, the cynical amongst us would say it was only because his team won but I am not so sure - this seemed like a heart-felt thank you which he would have made anyway.

So, well done to everyone involved!
Phil

The club's a joke, embarrassing that we should be so welcoming to other people when we can't even get our own ticketing arrangements sorted. Our website is crap, the team is worse, it wouldn't surprise me if the club forgot to fax a copy of this letter to the FA. It won't make a difference, we're still getting relegated because Knill won't play our best player (Yeoman) and drop our worst player (Rice). We're going down, bring back Ling.

Matt.

Just saving Brucie some time, he's a busy chap.

Head down, speak to the Candyman, he's very happy to arrange tours. Usually, they're conducted by Paul, the steward fella (he's not a steward, he's more than that, but I'm not sure what his actual job is). He knows the place inside out, is very much Mr Torquay and has access all areas. The Bench is very impressive, particularly for a club our size. The gym is lovely, the changing rooms are brilliant and the view from the camera position is really quite nice indeed. Do it.

Damn you MAtt. I thought for a minute you were being serious. Lol. You nearly had me there.
In all seriousness I doubt anyone up top will really listen. it's all too much for them to take in,. Money doesnt mean everything. Pure decent treatment of supporters means a lot more.
Now Mr Candy can I have a Jacuzzi in my box when I next come to Plainmoor.
