Emergency Loan Goalkeeper

Post by Jerry »

If Pokes injury keeps him out of the side, would we be allowed to bring in a keeper on an emergency loan as we would only have one fit pro keeper?

If not, what about getting David James in as he is out of contract and local? Not sure how fit he is but he's got to be better then Rice surely?

We've got our very own candidates from the forum, Bengull is a very capable keeper i am led to believe whilst i think i'm right in saying that Dave (forevers) lad is a keeper of the highest promise so we can stick one of those in. I'd do it but i can't actually physically move.

On a serious note Jerry, i don't know the answer to your question but i'd certainly welcome it. No offence to Rice but he just isn't up to the job and especially with our league status hanging by a thread.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

If this injury makes him fit for Saturday why didn't he just play on today? We needed him by the sound of it.

Porbably not to make a minor injury worse and rule him out for the rest of the season, to be fair did not think Ricey did a lot wrong, apart from being hesitant, did not seem to know whether to stay on his line or come for the ball.

Lol Andy my lad would love to play, however 2 things would stop he is only a U16 and he also is injured right now so could not play, 4wks into a fractured wrist injury, I may don the tin hat soon and admit which club he is on suspended trial at, not for mo however.. :Z

Still a better option than Ricey. :~D

One thing I forgot to add earlier, not sure we would be able to bring in an emergency keeper on loan if Pokey was ruled out for a period of time.

Last time we did it was for Notts County home, when Steve Collis played at that time both senior keepers (Poke/Bevan) were ruled out, Rice is fit and I am not sure whether Connor Tompson would be counted as a senior player.

Cambdridge were allowed to do it for the conference play-off final against us, however at that time they also had no fit senior keepers.

Forever is correct. Regulation 54 of the Football League Regulations allows that ALL the professional goalkeepers must be independently certified as unfit.

Full ruling here: http://www.football-league.co.uk/regula ... 2125731#54

That said, suspensions count also. Maybe Ricey could write a nasty letter to someone at the FA and get himself a misconduct charge? While I'm on this, I wonder what happens in the Bilel Moshni situation where a player simply refuses to play? Or if they are in jail? I guess it would be up for special exemption, but it's a ponderment none-the-less.

Matt.
