At my school (St Cuthbert Mayne, where I am head boy [and that said in the least snobbish way]) the year 11 students (or 5th year students) were giving an opportunity to be in a competition by Torquay United. The competition would give you a chance to get some work experience with the media manager and people behind the scenes all to do with the 'media' side of football. In order to be in with a chance of winning, a task was set which was that you had to write an article regarding careers in football.

I don't really know what I want to do when I leave school, but I thought this would be a good opportunity and its with my beloved Torquay United, so I thought I'd give it a go! Turns out, I won the competition and will be with the media guys on Saturday for the game against Port Vale! Also, in the programme will be my article on careers in football. I know the programme isn't a very popular thing to purchase nowadays (I may be wrong?) and with it being £3 is a bit steep for a programme, but I would really appreciate it if you were able to give my article a read! I had to bring my article down to 320 words (the original was 700 words! So I apologise if it looks a bit bare!) but I hope you enjoy the read.

Well done on winning the competition. You should get an interesting insight to an aspect of matchday at the club that few of us will have experienced.
I'm sure we'll all look forward to reading your piece in the programme,and of course telling you what was wrong with it later in the weekend

Top work Danny, I went to Cuthbert Mayne heck that school has changed so much since 1985 when I passed through it's doors for the last time, when I joined the school it still had seperate doors and break time area's for Boys and Girls thankfully that soon changed and the school moved with the times in my 2nd year there. Went back last year to watch a school football match and got lost..

Anyway you have a wise head for such a young lad, and thought you were going to be the next MP for Teignbridge.

Nice one, danny, congratulations on winning. Many moons ago, I had a piece printed in the Brentford (unlucky losers on Sunday) programme and it's quite an ego-boost to see your own name in your team's programme. Hope you enjoy your day - I can't get to the game, is there any chance you/someone can put your article on here? Just so I can rip it to shreds, obviously

Did you ever participate in the 'fans eye view' a weekly column in the Herald Express when it was daily? I did it a couple of times and it was great! For anyone interested it was the 2-0 win against oxford in the 2nd round of the FA cup in our promotion year and the win against stockport (I think!) Kee scored, awful weather and Potter played in goal, Zebroski may have sored as well. And one last thing, I'm in year 11 and am going to Exeter college next year, well worth a look if you haven't already!

Well done Danny. I didn't go to Cuthbert Mayne as I lived in Kingsteignton so went to what is now Teign School. However good to see your profile building and although I won't be down for the PV game (as I am going to a wedding in Grantham) I'll look out for the article.

I will post the article on here after the game for those who could not go to the game or didn't purchase a programme. I will most probably put the 'full' article of 700 words on here after the game (but still by the programme ).

Yes he is happytorq! He's deputy (or may be assistant I'm not sure) head teacher and he is my teacher for PE theory!
