Reserves lose to Argyle

2-0 at Homepark today - and by all accounts we were worse than awful.
Team was as strong as it gets outside of the starting 11/12 - Rice, Leadbitter, McKenzie, MacDonald, Cruise, Easton, Macklin, Thompson, Baker, Yeoman, Halpin
Sounds like we even got feisty at the end - likely to be through frustration of such a poor performance.
Not a good sign of the indications of the strength in depth of our squad and disappointing to see no one making a case to be include in the starting 11 for Saturday.

sounds like we were pants! Least it was only a friendly,
more than 1 loan needed?

Think one of the problems may well be uncertain futures, we, I believe have 16 players out of contract in the summer some I should imagine may have it in the back of their minds they could well be looking for new clubs, and thats players in the first team and reserve squads.
The lower down you go the smaller squads clubs have, for some getting a new club might be difficult, bound to play on the mind.

What position does Baker play? Looks like a very weak midfield with only Easton plus four very attacking players and whatever Baker is...

But this should be making them play better, not worse. Like out London bound friend Mr Carayol.

He's a pub player who has less chance of starting for us than Trojan. I have no idea why they thought he was worth another 6 months, mental.
Other than Ricey sounded like everyone was truly dire which is in all honesty not at all surprising.

Indeed Phil, but if you are not getting first team chances and are out of contract, what does that tell you as a player and where after Torquay reserves do you go.
Martin Ling despite his style of football is no fool , he will not wait untill July, he will already be talking to first team players about new contracts that he wants to keep, if your a player in and about the first team squad and you have not had that indication it would easy to think your time at the club is about to end no matter what you do.
Baker indeed played last season for Stoke Gabriel in the south devon league, enough said maybe.

That's harsh of Baker, he was a consistent performer for Gabriel last season and was worth a look. He is a left winger!

Very disappointing when you consider the players that were out there.

It maybe harsh on Karl Baker,Ryan, the point for me is not having a go at the lad himself, it is not his fault he was offered the chance and would have been a complete fool to turn it down.
But the gap between the Southern/Northern premier league and the football league is a massive one, for any player to bridge the gap from that level and make it in the football is hard enough, what is the gap between the S-D-L and football league ? it is light years.
Karl Baker if kept on and some of the other squad players who do not have much of a chance of starting will not be on much in terms of wages, however I would rather see the squad thinned out some of these cheap options go, and be replaced with less in terms of sqaud numbers but but more in terms of quality.
Chop the squad back to 16 or so but have good league 2 players, and when injuries and suspensions hit use the loan market, not a fan, however I can now see for clubs with such budgets like ours it is the only way forward.

No... I give up. They both damn us with the faintest imaginable praise.

Never mind. Plymouth lost 7-0 to Portsmouth ladies once.
For a second I thought they must have missed 'ladies' off the end, but you can clearly see they state when it is a ladies team.
