The fact we have Logan training with us makes it clear we don't have a penny to our name.
you cannot dismiss my views none have managed at the club so you cannot comment by saying none are the answer when you have no idea about there ideas or tactics
Do not expect a great reaction to this, however your are right one thing it is a forum and do have the right.
Go on I will humour you and have a go. Who ever thought Steve Kean was a football manager should be shot, so no thanks there. John Barnes could not manage a piss up in brewery let alone a football team, rumour has it Bobby Williamson is a piss up in a brewery, so no thanks to those to either.
Is Bobby Gould still alive, Tilson and Lawrence pretty decent but niether would come here even if we were looking which we are not.

So are you saying it's Martin Lings fault that we've not signed anyone during this transfer window?

Not having a go at Jeff or anyone here, but if posters do not like the nature of current threads and posts they could allways post more of their own stuff and help turn this site back to what it once was.

Is it just me or is this forum getting more than its fair share of total egits these days?
You are correct Jeff, it used to be good. Now its just full of imbeciles and benile rubbish.

I think that's uncalled for Luke. What banal is to one man might be enlightening, fun and enjoyable for another and what reasonable and sensible is to another man may not be the same for another. Ben may think his post is a reasonable and sensible one to which you strongly disagree but there's no point in labelling people for it. I happen to think the question of whether we want Ling in or out is a valid one although Ben lets himself down by suggesting managers who wouldn't come here in a zillion years and, like myself, maybe some of his posts lack a certain understanding of the workings of a league 2 football team but it is for you more knowledgable folk to educate us and put us right (in the right manner) if we have got some facts incorrect or are totally out of touch with what is going on at Torquay. Dave (forever) is an example of somebody with his finger on the pulse of many things TUFC from what is going on off the pitch as well as on and he can make informative posts that may contain information myself and others may not be aware of.
I've been a complete tosser on here sometimes and totally hold my hands up and i am doing really well with the cognitive behavioural therapy i'm getting and it seems to be working these last few weeks. Basically the theory is to turn every negative into a positive by changing your attitude and ways of thinking and you should maybe do this with the forum, as should jeff.
The forum is constantly changing in terms of members deciding not to post anymore, members who post infrequently but who are well known and regarded, members like myself who post a hell of a lot which often much of it could be considered in your 'banal' category and new members who won't necesarily be as 'clued up' all round in the goings on at Plainmoor and so make rash comments or even younger members who might not necessarily have the maturity to post anything that makes much sense, again a bit like me. (No offence meant to these youngsters, i'm just pointing out the energy of youth and how many things seem straightforward but as i have learned on here, they are often seldom so).
Many members whose views Jeff and yourself respected may now not use the forum anymore and the 'newcomers' are treating it like a free for all. I say come one and come all because the more members we get on here, the more interactive it will be, the more debates about loads of daft things and serious things we can have and the more fun it will be.
I appreciate you may not like it but it's where the forum is at and by labelling people as imbeciles and being critical of their threads also shows an undesirable trait which is the very thing you are complaining about.

Every forum has it's idiots. People like brucie are tolerable though, because for all his negativity, he makes a valid point once in a while.
People like lankyben (assuming he isn't an argyle or city fan) add nothing to a forum. They usually detract from it. Uneducated and opinionated posts start to become accepted and tolerated, those who visit to have interesting and educated debate get bored of sifting through rubbish to get to the decent topics.
Toleration of drivel on forums ALWAYS means the death of them. Perhaps not in terms of membership but definitely in terms of stimulated conversation and well used humour.
I have seen it happen on every forum I've ever frequented and on all but one of multiple forums I have run in the past. That is why I have no intention of tolerating threads like this one.

Fair points Luke, i just think that because a forum attracts people from a wide variety of backgrounds both social and educational then we should be tolerant of all posts unless it is totally ridiculous. I do post some ridiculous posts mainly with humour in mind but i try to put them on the popside thread which is there for such things and i completely understand why you might get issues with some random threads on the main board.
I'm a reasonably intelligent man but often i struggle with some posts like the ones from Matt ferrari (RIP MATT-I mean rest in peace from the computer because you're barred and not because you are about to meet your demise) which are too rich and often on a different level to what i can comprehend, Alpine Joe is another, he can post some real head teasers. We have a broad spectrum of members and like others have said, if the thread is p*ssing you off the best thing to do is not to respond. If nobody responds then the thread will die.
Anyway, fair points Luke and i always appreciate your input. I'm having Directors Bitter tonight for the first time, it's tasty but not a patch on Tribute which i keep going back to as it is just the pinnacle.
