Hi, there a group of us travelling to the Accrington game this weekend from Dublin and we were wondering if bringing an Irish flag into the ground with us would be frowned upon? We'll be on the Popside but we'll leave it behind if anyone thinks its a bad idea. Opinions and comments welcome

It's hard enough to get people from torquay to come, let alone Dublin! BRING THE FLAG!!!!

I've opened a thread in the Ice Breaker section of the forum to explain how myself and my brother started following Torquay. This weekend is to celebrate his 50th birthday and we've roped in some mates to help us on our way so really the Dublin branch consists of just the 2 of us, although it'll be my best mates second time to watch the Gulls as we went to the Ebbsfleet game at Wembley a few years back and he keeps his eye on the results now too. We're heading over on Friday afternoon to get ourselves warmed up Can't wait!

As the resident flag retailer on here, I just cannot avoid commenting.
As you may be aware there is some bad feeling at Irish flags such as "Erin Go Bragh" being flown by Hibernian and Celtic fans in recent years, but we have supplied many Irish fans with the tricolor with no negative feedback. Indeed we even sell an official Leeds United Flag which is a tricolor with the club crest on.

We have seen a massive increase in interest from fans wanting to fly the flag of their players at grounds. Uruguay flags are often seen at Annfield, Ivory Coast were popular at Chelsea and we even sold some Cape Verde Island flags to Macclesfield Town fans last year in recognition of their international goalie.

Club Football is becoming much more international and that is abgood thing

I know what you're saying MidDevon. Some people will object to a tricolour in a ground and that's the reason for bringing it up here before we did. I wouldn't normally wear any colours to a match in the UK simply for my own safety (we're talking Prem League here) but from what I've read and heard about going to Plainmoor it's not something I'd have to worry about. In our case we're bringing it to show the Gulls have some Irish supporters, nothing more nothing less. The whole Celtic/Hibs thing, well, that's a whole different ball game. Religious connotations etc. No thanks.

What I was saying was flags such as Erin Go Bragh are potentially a world apart from an Irish National Flag.

I don't stand on the pop side but I have heard stories about the stewards so I don't know if its worth giving the club a ring to make sure its o.k with your flag. I would hate for you to come over and find you have problems bringing it in. I am looking forward to seeing it ! Lets hope the rain stops the match is on and you see the Gulls win !

Oh by the way can you bring over some real Guinness for us !
