The whole infrastructure of the Club has been overhauled and that has to be paid for. Thea Bristow has to be paid back what she's owed, it's not being syphoned off anywhere.

Really? I thought we were abandoning Seale Hayne in favour of a move to Forches Cross. Does this mean that the planned new training ground has fallen through now and we are going to develop Seale Hayne instead?

We now have a squad of 22 (21 if Macklin goes) so surely we need to at least replace Eunan? Originally Ling said he wanted 24 so has this changed now?

Think Ling will see if the peripheral players will impress in the friendlies before delving into the transfer/loan market. It might be a case of having a smaller squad but being able to use more players than last season because the quality is better. The money from the transfers has to go where it is most needed, and at this time it has to go into the infrastructure of the club.

But having a smaller squad, even if the quality is better overall, would put the club at a disadvantage against other clubs if we are competing for promotion. Players could be just about knackered again towards the end of the season..

Ever presents (outfield) last season, Mansell, Nicho, Oastler and O'kane. Arguably Eunan was the only one who couldn't cope, Oastler got better as season went on, Nicho coped and is fitter for this season and Mansell is Superman. It's pretty normal for defenders to be ever present in a season, we have plenty of cover in midfield especially if Craig, Thompson and Macklin can step up to the plate. Personally I feel we could do with a quick young striker to partner Howe or as an option off the bench (Kudus Oyenuga had a fantastic youth record, would like to see what he could do for us). I trust Ling will get a good balance.

Ling has not mentioned Morris or Craig as potential replacements for the Eunan role but rather Stevens or Bodin.

Really? Neither is the 'playmaker' type IMO

I hear Craig is very skillful, has a wand of a left foot and is a free-kick specialist, would like to think he could come in and be better than Eunan (#Dreamer). Morris definately has more to his game than he showed last year, maybe he'll have a new lease of life in the centre. Have to see how friendlies go, but I don't think we'll need to spend much getting players in.

“In terms of the free role Eunan often played, Billy Bodin could probably do it, as could Danny Stevens, so there are options within the squad and I will be looking at those options over the next few weeks"

Suggests Ling does not see Morris or Craig in the free role Eunan occupied.

It's an open case, hopefully he'll find that 1 of the 4 fits the bill.

No replacement for Eunan likely

Bodin can play the Eunan role with his eyes shut!

Seems Ling is more concerned to stregthen defensively than adding to the attacking options.

Bodin it is then! In terms of centre back, assuming Saah and Downes start would it be possible to get in a 3rd quality CB on a permanent deal without eventually upsetting one of them. Think loans will be the order of the day should a CB or Howe gets injured, think there is enough cover for all the other positions.

yeah forches has fallen through although the center of excellence will continue to play games there, apparently there were to many restrictions on times of use and length of lease. the youth team is going to play all their home matches at plainmoor.
