The 5 year plan . . .

. . . is it coming to fruition ?
I'll be corrected by someone if it's wrong, but the original 5 year plan, as stated by the incoming consortium at the beginning of the end of the Bateson/Noberts/Bateson era, was to get back in the Football League within the aforementioned time scale.
We've "overachieved" a wee bit then, or have we ?
Methinks there's been a wee bit of kiddology afoot here.
Now look at the real 5 year plan :
Year 1 (season 2007/08) - regroup, rebuild and consolidate in the Conference and hopefully have a shot at going straight back up.
Year 2 (season 2008/09) - push on from consolidation and make promotion back to the Football League a reality.
Year 3 (season 2009/10) - consolidate reacquired Football League status.
Year 4 (season 2010/11) - build on consolidation and push towards a promotion/play-off position.
Year 5 (season 2011/12) - plan completion ? League One football at Plainmoor ?

Somehow I really don't think that certain Directors are looking forward to League One football.....................

So a new five-year plan is now required:
Year 1: Survive in League One
Year 2: Survive in League One a little more easily
Year 3: Consolidation in League One
Year 4: Further consolidation in League One.
Year 5: Check the finances..
Or perhaps:
Year 1: Promotion from League One
Year 2; Consolidation in Championship
Year 3: Promotion from Championship
Year 4: Consolidation in Premier League
Year 5: Win Premier League Title..

I'm happy with;
Year 1 -5 Avoid relegation to the conference.
Anything upwards of that is a bonus.
Is that pessimistic or realistic?

I don't see why SG?
Surely as long as we keep our playing budget down, the increased police costs would be covered by increased crowds (Bristow's Bench & bigger away followings)?
Other than that, it's about time the club built on their successes so far, rather than sit back and think they've accomplished everything they set out to do.
I know there's a thread elsewhere about this, but if the board seriously want to increase revenue (in order to sustain league 1 football), they need to pull their fingers out and make some difficult decisions. There are infinte ways of making money other than just relying on the 2.5k punters through the gate every other week.

Why even bother consolidating? As Stevenage and Southampton showed it's best to ride that wave of success for as long as it lasts!
I fear numpte's plan may be more likely, with regular participation in the playoffs and decent cup runs boosting the coffers ready for promotion and sustained survival in year 4 or 5.

I like the Russian philosophy – Planning is just something else to go wrong.
Enjoy the moment.
If Dinger’s boys get auto they will have joined a very select band of TUFC players. Last time, I think that if we had held on to DG, we would have survived (and with hindsight he would have benefited as well). As it was it was it was still a very close run thing.
I have never forgiven Franchise FC.. May they rot in hell.
