To get the ball rolling . . .

Who are the Sc*nthorpe United footballers who have captained England at the highest level ?

First one with the correct answer wins a place on the Executive Popside Naughty Step in the company of Trojan. :)

The Cloughs the Lampards and I think the third might be someone from Stoke City, can't remember his name but I remember reading it somewhere.

Spot on with the Cloughs and Lampards and along with Stoke, Arsenal is another clue to the first father and son.

Only one I can think of from the right era is George Eastham but I've no idea if his father played for England.

Well done Dave. . . . . .

The first pairing was George E. Eastham, and his more famous son George R Eastham. George senior won one cap in 1935, while George junior, a star at Arsenal and Stoke City, won 19 caps between 1963 and 1966.

It's been pointed out to me that Ian Wright and Shaun Wright- Phillips are another father and son to have played for England. Technically this is correct, biologically it isn't as Shaun is the stepson of Ian Wright. Bradley Wright-Phillips IS the biological son of Ian Wright but as yet has not been capped for England at full international level.

As long as the sons Eastham, Clough and Lampard are not offspring of the milkman/postman/backdoor tradesman :O then they are the only true sons of fathers who have played for England.

Paul Goddard, Francis Jeffers and David Nugent are in the one game/one goal for England club. So it must be one (or all) of them.
