Singers/Drum

Been talking to a few fans recently about the position of the singers and drum. Recently they have gone down the bottom by the away fans and i found it killed the atmosphere as you just cant hear them down the other end. I was half way at the pop and couldnt hear them. I prefered it all at the half way like where it always had been because if the chant was slow and easy, it got more fans involved and made a better atmosphere.
They moved down the bottom and they feel its better because they sing all game down there and get banter with away fans. Sing all game in the middle and get more invloved so were actually heard.
Hey what do i know, just intrested to see what others think.

Totally agree with you. The Yellow Army needs to be near the halfway line to get all our fans together as one voice and making the atmosphere good. All the effort by the singers and drum today was a faint distant noise

better fun by the away supporters, and the players hear a good noise when they come out which gives them a boost

End in my opinion, especially now the players come out there. Songs naturally start themselves, banter with the away fans, generally an all-round better atmosphere. If we really wanted to get the family stand going then the corner by boots would be good, and that's not really do-able for me.

The best way to resolve this is to ask the players which they prefer.Unfortunately there was very little singing at the halfway line yesterday and no sign of songs starting "naturally" or any atmosphere at all. Could someone contact the club for the players opinion ?

I could hear the singers down the away end of the Pop loud and clear from the opposite corner of the ground so End for me. I also heard a few songs from those in the middle so IMHO it really doesn't matter where the singers stand as long as they stand together.
Personally I prefer the end although for some reason it seems to bring more attention from the stewards.

I asked Manse today if it made any difference where the main group of singers stood and he said "No, not really. The popside is just a wall of noise.....just make sure the abusive ones are far away!"

I stand down boots end of pop and can't hear the singers atall when there up away end. It's very hard to start a chant now.

simple solution drum starts the chant in the middle, singers sit at both ends of the pop, problem sorted!!!

Does anyone take a drum to games anymore? My last two games at Plainmoor at the back end of last season didn't have anybody with a drum and no away games now ever have drummer. When i first started watching Torquay there was a bloke with a drum who used to go to lots of away games but now we don't have anyone. Shame because used in the right way it is a way of generating an atmosphere. There may have been a drummer at our away play off leg against Shrewsbury but i can't be sure. It may have just been us banging on the hoardings at the back though!
