Right then - where will we end up?

What is your early guess at where we will finish?
For me I think 17th - but I have only seen the Burnley game so if I had seen the others I might have us higher.

Middle to top half of the table for me.

I voted for 8th-12th.
Good performance in League Cup
Beat Rovers and Argyle at least once
Beat Exeter in JPT (if we get to play them)
5th Round appearance in FA Cup
Finish 8th-12th
If we achieve all those we should be pushing for a Play Off spot, but I think that we will finish between the 8th-12th positions.

Right, I'd like to add a rider to this thread. As well as voting etc, please add details of which, if any, of the PSFs you have attended. I am wondering whether there will be a correlation between which matches we have seen, and where we think we will finish.
I have been to all of them (except WSM, which I'm, not counting for the purposes of this test) and I voted 8-12.
Matt.

I think you will again sneak into the Play offs this season but at the worse cant see you finishing below 10th.

I voted 8th-12th which is a pretty realistic target after recent events. I'd be happy with anywhere around mid-table any higher would be a fantastic effort.

I haven't been to any of the PSF games Matt but in my opinion we will finish no higher than 17th place but will be comfortably clear of any relegation worries. Well, as comfortable as any team can be when only a few spots off the bottom two!

Really, Andy, really?
While, for the purposes of keeping those of a lesser constitution happy, I absolutely accept your right to your opinion, I cannot for the life of me see why you feel we have, at best, the eighth worst squad in the division.
This year's back five are better than last years, with the addition of Bobby over Bevan and Saah over Branno and playing JOastler (a right back) instead of Manse (not a right back) at right back.
The midfield has its General back, as well as a deal more pitch time for the little maestro. IF (appreciate it's a big if) Macklin can come good, and Morris can can deliver through the season as I have seen him do in pre-season, then the starting midfield is certainly no worse than it was last year (different, but not worse).
Up front, we finally seem to have a couple of guys who can actually finish, rather than kick it towards the goal and hope for the best.
There are lots of teams knocking about who have elements of this, but few who appear to have the whole package, as we do, with one or two maybes.
Matt.

I voted 13-16th simply because I think, at times, we may struggle to score goals. We will have a solid defence as long as Saah and Bobby stay fit, and a good midfield if Eunan stays fit. But there are question marks over all three strikers. If those questions are answered, we may be in for a decent season.

i've gone for 8th-12th, but if the option had been there, i'd have gone 10-14 to be honest. I haven't seen any PSFs, so can only go on what i've heard of the new players and performances. i'm more basing this on the overall quality of Div2, with some very capable teams in there. having said that, i don't think we should fear anyone, we've got the makings of a good side ourselves. i just think it might be a bit of a stop-start season, while the top teams will be more consistent, but not necessarily better than us.

I've had a ponder on the thread title. My vote cast took into consideration where we could have ended up if we had beaten Stevenage. Buckle was going regardless of the Old Trafford result. The current squad assembled by Dinger would have been straight back down to League 2 or consolidated in League 1 ?
My vote (which is a secret/private matter between me and the ballot box) has pondered what could have been. What could be is still a secret/private matter between me and the ballot box.
Here's a clue to how I voted : some teams who come down go straight back up (Wycombe) and some teams who come down go down again (Stockport).
I hope this brings clarity to my vote.

I expect the league to be harder this year. Let’s be honest it was poor last season. We were lucky to make the play offs on the back of the generosity of others.
That being said I am persuaded by the hairdresser’s argument that we might just be a better team. I am also hopeful that we are under a proper = better manager.
So my conclusion is upper mid table 8-12th.
Bring it on. And roll on 13/08/2011.

I'm an optimist and think play-offs, but if the potential of our youngsters is realised this season then we could find ourselves in the automatics. COR BLIMEY!
