Bristol Rovers youth coach Darren Patterson has left to become assistant manager at Rotheram.

From what I have read on our vital site(Which is never wrong) Paul Buckle will again be raiding Torquay United for Geoff Harrop, who I think I am right in saying is your head of youth?

This is getting silly now.

Geoff Harrop has another TWO years left on his contract I believe !

Next thing you know he (Harrop) will join Buckle in raiding us for all our best youngsters!!!

TIME FOR TUFC TO POLITELY TELL BRFC TO DO ONE!!!!!!

Hardly sounds nailed on, it says MAY go back for him. I'd much rather see Jerry Gill back, he was an excellent youth coach.

Patterson To Move To Rotherham

Youth Team Coach Darren Patterson is leaving Bristol Rovers to become Assistant Manager at Rotherham United.

Patterson will hook up with former team mate Andy Scott who is now Manager at League Two side Rotherham United. Patterson has had spells as Assitant Manager to Paul Trollope and also had a spell as Caretaker Manager.

The news of Pattersons's departure means new Manager Paul Buckle will be looking for a new member of his backroom staff and he may turn to Torquay's head of youth Geoff Harrop.

It's a good point. I'm surprised Bucks is so desperate for any of these faces because as we all know, he was soley responsible for every bit of success during his tenure. Or maybe he did have a little help along the way...

'News of Patterson's departure'?' You can be sure he's leaving because Bucks has told him he's about to be replaced. Or does the other bloke see Rovrum as a step up...?

Let him go if he wants to (for a price mind) ... he (Harrop) is a "Buckle man" after all.

Now if we were looking for a new head of youth then that is the sort of role I would quite happily see Chris Hargreaves given and one that he could quite easily work around his existing media/retail commitments I would have thought ... without needing to pay him a fortune to do it. Not only that but he would be absolutely brilliant working with the kids I reckon.

Absolutely, promote from within.

Patterson has been pretty unpopular for along time. He was promoted to Assistant manager under Trolls when Lenny Lawrence left but after Trolls went he was demoted back to youth team coach (the original position he occupied). He was never going to stay once we got a new man in and I don't blame Patterson for wanting to move to occupy an assistant manager position elsewhere when he knew he face didn't fit. He was also never liked by the players. I am aware of him and Norths disagreements at Oxford though.

Just like Josh said.

He is pretty unpopular here. Him and Andy Scott are good mates, and he has had run ins with Shaun North.

I think Rovers are slowly getting rid of the majority that contributed to last years debacle, and want to start with a complete new slate.

Yes it is a step up for him, He is now an assistant manager, rather than an average youth coach.

Spot on CP. I see Chris Harg's as a perfect youth team coach, and it would seem a great foot on a ladder to greatness as eventual Gulls manager\Head Coach\Son of God (Buckle).....
