United’s U18s came out on top of their semi-final clash at Mangotsfield on Saturday to make it into their third successive Gary Else Memorial League Cup final. Having emerged victorious in 2021/22 and 2022/23, the Young Gulls showed they were in no mood to give up their trophy without a fight, as they defeated Mangotsfield in a repeat of last year’s showpiece. Although the match in South Gloucestershire was a closely fought one, it was United who eventually made their way into the final courtesy of a 2-0 scoreline, with Thomas Chastey and Andrew Ellis crowning of a fantastic team performance. Their opponents in the final will certainly be no strangers to Kevin Wills’ side either, as Bridgwater United – who have proven to be United’s closest challengers in league and cup during the past three years – overcame Bath City by the same margin as Torquay to set up a repeat of the 2022 final.
