MOTM - Oldham

Post by Gulliball »

This feature will run again this year - the 13th season of data.

Up to five players, in order, for anyone who deserves them.

(If anyone is wondering, I don't think 2021/22 figures were ever posted in full. I'll do it after getting back from holiday...)

Halstead - Dealt with everything calmly and didnt look like getting beat
Moxey - Seems to get better and better, defence would be all over the place without him
Goodwin - Unlucky to not have 2 goals by 10mins, didnt stop running

That's it for me

Moxey - where would this defence be without him?
Halstead - some tidy keeping although one stop was palmed into the danger area rather than wide
Goodwin - won virtually everything in the air and is good with ball at feet too

No one else I'm afraid - I had high hopes for our new midfield but it cries out for more pace

Dean Moxey. MOTM. Standout player on the pitch yesterday. A superb footballer.

Will Goodwin. A big lad, very strong and looks like he could be a really impressive player for United.

Mark Halstead. Good shot stopper and looked much more confident on crosses.

Brett McGavin. He will have better games but I think he will prove to be a great signing.

Ali Omar. Apart from one rash tackle I thought Ali did a lot of good work, looked very fit and came up for a lot of corners. Much improved.

Surprise a couple of people have gone for Marshall

He concerns me, from watching all the preseason games and yesterday he plays the man too much, he has red card written all over him. His heading was poor yesterday, think he headed 4 or 5 balls to his left or right rather than back up the field, will need to be a lot better than that
