Very sad to see politics impacting on our football club, a place where I assume most of us go to get away from it, If this is the new normal I won’t be renewing my ST. Gutted.

Did our players kneel last night? If so, that is the last game I will follow the Gulls. There's no place for BLM Marxist appeasement and political posturing. We stand up to Racism, we kneel to nobody.

Yes I’m afraid so…..😞 It ruined the whole game for me, I felt I’d lost my club…. Didn’t cheer one goal! I’m sure some of the players weren’t happy either but that’s their mortgage money so I totally understand they had to do it…

Unbelievable. We won 4-0 and the whole game was ruined by 22 blokes kneeling down for 5 seconds?

If you were that offended by players kneeling to highlight racial injustice, please do us all a favour and don’t come back to Plainmoor.

Wow!!
Interesting you say “it’s sad to see politics impacting our football”, only 3 weeks ago did we ‘Stand with Ukraine’ before the match to huge applause and in support of those affected, didn’t see any rejection or upset to that.

How can seeing footballers kneel for less than 20 seconds, in support of those who are racially abused every single day, have the ability to ruin the whole game for you. 🤦‍♂️ Clearly you’re both oblivious to those experiences that our black family members, friends and colleagues are subjected to daily.

Maybe it’s time to educate yourselves and perhaps put the Daily Mail down!

I'm not going to take lectures on racism from virtue signallers. I was born in Nigeria, my Mother was Muslim, I'm married with an Asian family. I live, work and socialise within a predominantly Muslim community in SE Asia. My neighbours, co-workers and friends don't know I'm a racist so can you keep it quiet in case they find out.

Taking the knee is a Political gesture promoted by Marxist Black Lives Matter activists. It has NO place in Football. Stand Up Against Racism!

I knew there would be a barrage of abuse and racist or bigot accusations by the shouty crowd, the “our way or the highway crowd”, the “my view is the only view” and “you must not have an alternative view or we will shut you down” the “cancel culture enforcers” thanks for the advice about not coming back to Plainmoor, I will accept it as I won’t watch our team forced to be subservient to BLM whose ideals are clearly interpreted in different ways in order to suit the agenda.
BTW I don’t see any Racism at our club or even in Torbay? If there was it would be perfectly understandable! However it’s not just about racism and injustice.
I don’t and won’t pay to watch this political gesture and I do believe in our democracy I’m allowed to do this… atm….bye bye.

I do not have a fixed opinion either way on this political gesture, it is already dying its own death like so many superficial gestures before it, some may disagree but there are far more inportant things to worry about, If it means personally switching off for 20 or 60 minutes so be it, it will not stop me coming to Plainmoor.

This post has honestly made me feel sick I genuinely can’t believe people can complain about people taking a knee in a sign of of respect and solidarity you need to have a serious look at yourselves it’s honestly disgusting

Why is this only being raised now? It's not the first time they've taken a knee.

You get all kinds of 'political' gestures and sentiment at football matches and sports events in general. Ukraine, poppies, taking a knee, rainbow laces, etc., have all featured in recent months.

Much depends on your perspective of each. You can get bent out of shape because you see them as overtly political or sermonising, or you can be more comfortable that what you see amounts to reminders showing support for things most people in the crowd agree with anyway.... Ukraine is the victim in a bad war, remembering war dead, racism bad, discrimination of LGB bad, etc.

Some clubs opt for some other anti racism gesture instead of taking the knee, mainly because of the belief taking the knee is the preserve of Marxists / BLM and not a more generally accepted gesture of anti racism which originated before BLM. Again, it's about differing perspectives on the meaning of taking a knee, and those divergent views becoming increasingly polarised.

If TUFC as an organisation want to show support for anti racism in the form of a gesture at the start of a match I've no objections on that. And I leave it to TUFC to decide on what that gesture should be. In any case, it won't influence my decision on whether to attend.

Are you referring to me in this? If so, can you explain why would you say that.

Well done to the players for taking the knee - a knee in the goolies for racists and xenophobes.
