Not being a gambler ... I only ever bet on TUFC, honestly!

Just looking for some advice, from anyone who might be in the know. So, we are sat top of the League and having had a little flutter earlier on in the season, I am considering my options. I believe I can cash out now with a tidy profit, or I can hold on in the hope that we finish the season as Champions. But my dilemma is, what if the season is curtailed early, as now seems a real possibility?

In the event that the season were to end now, I guess it’s likely that I will just get my original bet back, which makes the cashing out now option more attractive. But what if the season goes ahead but ends up being suspended later and the season is settled on a PPG basis? Would the bookies still honour the bet, even if the season doesn’t complete?

I would be interested to know whether, for instance, anyone who backed Barrow last season as Champions or indeed anyone who bet on the top 3 on an each way basis - were their bets honoured in full even though the season was curtailed?

The only experience I have on this is that, despite our final position being 15th last season, I was pleasantly surprised to see that my bet was declared null and void and returned to me in full by the bookies - Bet 365 in this case.

Any advice would be welcome .... I’m sure I’m not the only one with this dilemma!

Chris, I tend to have 2-3 football accas each week however would not claim to be an expert. My honest answer here is I don't know, but the fact bet365 declared your bet (presume on TUFC winning the league) void and returned your stake would 'suggest' they didn't pay out on the NLP (although could be wrong) because if they had of paid out on Barrow surely your bet would have be declared a losing bet rather than void, there should be terms and conditions on your bet, might be worth checking, or checking to see if bet365 have a covid-19 policy, but I'm sure we all know bookies wont pay out unless they absolutely have to.

No one can advise on whether to take the cash out option that's down to you. The interesting thing here is, the club have made three loan signings, that tells me the club are not expecting the league to be suspended imminently, however there isn't enough games played for a PPG ending I should imagine.

I didn't bet on TUFC winning the league, if I had, I would certainly be waiting for the results of the next two games before deciding anything.

Was your wager a bet or an investment? As your wager is with Bet 365 I assume you decided to play a game of chance rather than as an investment to earmark potential income for the future. I also assume you only gambled what you could afford so treat your bet as a game of chance and ride with it. You already answered your own question on refunds for a suspended season.

The above assumes your cash out profit will not buy you a new house, new car and allow you travel around the world.

i was a bookie for a while; bookmakers will generally only pay out on the official result. If the season is declared null and void, that would mean that the bet is also null and void; so you should get your stake back.

If it was me, and I was able to cash out now, I would almost certainly do that. It'd mean that if the season does go away you at least have the consolation of knowing you made a small profit. Not a big consolation since we'd still be in the NL, true, but something.

The only way this goes wrong for is if you cash out, and then the season reaches a conclusion with us on top. It's up to you to decide how comfortable you'd be with that (for me, I'd be totally ok; made a small profit and the team is back in the LEAGUE!!)

it might be worth asking the customer service department of your bookie. They've surely got some contingency planning of their own to do anyway. Some places might payout on the team leading if the season is curtailed, but they'd be under no obligation to so you could be SOL.

Bet 365 are a bunch of shysters owned by the anonymous woman who lives in a castle which cost millions.

Their adverts make me laugh - havn't been able to get a bet on with them for the best part of 10 years after getting a few wins on the horses - funny thing was I didn't even care whether my selections won or lost as I was arbing them off against the prices on betfair.

I would guess all bets would be null and void if the season didn't end. Depending if the bookmaker had a cashout facility such as betfair you could take a small profit I guess, but is it worth it. The team looks strong at the moment, not too many injury problems so I would be inclined to let the bet run.
