I understand we have today signed Lucas Covolan, a goal keeper from Worthing FC, my home club.

He's been selected for a Brazil under-20 side, which included Chelsea forward Oscar.

Torquay's first Brazilian .....Italian ???

Although I have the greatest trust in Pete and Gary Johnson you have to wonder that at the age of 27 he is/was playing at the level he was, even being loaned out by Whitehawk?

Appears to be a good signing to me. He is not an unknown to us, Worthing (for whatever reason) gave permission for him to train with us for one month after Christmas with a view to signing him this season. GJ working his magic once again.

Also interesting to see that GJ has also agreed terms with a second transfer target, which is expected to be completed shortly.

Any idea on the length of contract?

Would hope not, the carthorse is always injured, so wouldn't be an asset to the team, just a bind on the club's finances.

Seems a very far-fetched signing to me - why would he want to play 5th tier football??

I think the amount of money Andy Carroll has earned he could afford to play for TUFC for nothing and enjoy himself.

I suspect Wivel is winding us up but you never know????
