I have recently received a message from a Mr. Greb who said that 'an eccentric man' (it had to be 'Snip' Cornish) was also seen elsewhere in the town. Apart from his 'Snow in New'n Abbot!' catchphrase, he would also shout, as he attempted to sell the Herald, 'dead man found in coffin!'

I remember Snip Cornish very well. He was around in the mid 1970s and would walk around plainmoor during games with a stack of the Herald Express newspaper. I remember we used to play our home games on a saturday night at 7-30 and snip would walk around the ground shouting " Football results, Racing results, all in tonights evening paper". Being from Newton Abbot, i well remember well the phrase " snow in Newton Abbot". Snip seemed a lovely man.

My first match at Plainmoor was in April 1963, and 'Snip' Cornish was there then. Quite possibly he would have been there during the 50s too.
