The Lion King at Plainmoor

On May 5th the Lion King was shown at Plainmoor on a big screen. Did anyone go?

I assume it was a commercial disaster for the film promoters 'Slip N Slide Events' and TUFC as the tickets: £14 Standard / £8 Under 16, meant it was rather expensive considering you can buy the DVD cheaply.

A good idea to use Plainmoor for other things but a 1994 film, no family tickets and no real link to anything involving football.

Odd!

I would expect any financial loss would be borne by the promoters. They probably just hired the use of the ground from the club, so TUFC would make money on it anyway. Good move.
Looking at the promoters website they are showing this film at other football grounds including Stockport.

Who would have made a better Lion? Owers or Nicholson?

3years ago Squeeze and 10cc were at plainmoor, there was hardly anyone there unbelievably! It was a great night fantastic music, I still can’t believe how lucky we were to have them here.

Forgive for thinking that Lord Osborne had a concert venue as part of the grand plan.
Wake up gulls fans - the stadium at Nightingale Park or anywhere else is not and will not happen.

Well, The Lion King is a masterpiece but this seems too out of place like someone else said. But maybe they want to start showing more films like that on a regular or semi-regular basis? Maybe start something.

Its called trying to forge new revenue streams. Something the club desperately needs to do.

Good old YellowFest. A festival in an area surrounded by residential streets, which had basically no promotion aside from the club website and was relying on a couple very old bands to headline. It's no surprise it was a failure - look at Grinagog for what can be achieved in Torbay by someone who knows what they're doing and marketed it heavily. Plainmoor isn't cut out for handling big music gigs. It's one of the positives for moving out to the outskirts of the Bay in a new stadium (so long as it's not owned by Osborne).
