I havnt noticed national headlines saying how much rain and flooding has hit the rest of the country. With the bad weather coming in from the Atlantic in a westerly or south westerly direction, it stands to reason that this area will get the worst of it compared to the midlands and the like.

And the other grounds in the South West/Westcountry area?

We've had the worst of this latest weather stream, but the east coast was battered earlier in the winter. There weren't too many postponements over there either.

The club have said our pitch continues to have problems with drainage. Yet still people argue otherwise.

I love how WW3 kicks off every time we get a game postponed. It's nothing new people. Get real !!!

Our pitch has too much water on/under it. Others don't.

Other clubs have full pitch coverings, we don't.

If you combine the pages in this thread - essentially about Bury being off - with those in the Bury/Off thread, you have the biggest match thread of 2014 to date. Flipping 'eck, hope Tuesday's on.

Tell me about it Shane, Matt is trying to convince us that the rain only fell on 5% of the pitch and some how magically voided the other 95% clearly proving we don't have drainage problem on one side of the pitch, was Matt provoking debate, having a wind up, or just making himself look well you know you are right Shane found some statistics that show Devon in terms of rainfall is by no means the worst hit area.

Yet the worst offenders are Newport closely followed by us, now I can say as matter fact other clubs have been victims of worse rainfall then us and got games on. Why? Simple, some can and will shrug their shoulders, and say it's worse rainfall ever, what do you want us to do, it's happened through dawns of time, others will get up, jump around, be proactive, and do something about it.

Torquay United clearly can not fix the drainage problem that does exist by the clubs own admission, but what the club can do, 9 am Monday morning with out fail, is pick up the phone and order a set of waterproof full pitch covers. Yes they cost money, as said Chris Hargreaves has said the pay back is in 3 games, Northampton used their set last week for the first time and kept their game on, Yeovil's pitch covers not only saved their sell out game with Leeds, it was also a T.V match, made a profit of their covers, how many other clubs with in the section on that map hit by worse rain than us have pitch covers and kept games on.

what's it to be, inactive or proactive, save games and money, or continue to suffer postponements and lose money.

Couldn't agree more. Whatever the reasons behind the drainage issues, a set of full pitch covers should be a mandatory requirement at all FL clubs(where playing on a stolen premier league standard pitch isn't an option).

Does anyone know if they protect against frost too? It would sure as hell be a doubly good reason to buy them.
