If you had told me in August that we would be going into the last four games with 5 wins in 6 months, seriously out of form and with Exeter fan and park keeper, Martin Rice in goal, whilst we battle to save our league status, I think I may have jumped off a bridge.

[quote]="stevegull"]In keeping with Matt's template for responses for Rice playing the remaining games instead of Poke:

indeed, news has filtered accross the galaxy that poke is out for the rest of the season and martin rice will be in goal.

Ricey injured today. I posted the rules a while back and it would seem that, subject to some conditions stipulated therein, we are eligible to sign an emergency loanee keeper. Thoughts as to who we'd like if we do happen to fulfil the criteria?

So the consensus is after the Gillignham game that ricey was motm. Having been there I would also say he was one of if not our best player.

So in 2 of the 3 games he's started he's arguably been our best player which isn't bad for such a joke keeper is it?

should be mate, was in yesterday where they've given him some anti inflammatory (or whatever they're called) he's not training until friday and will have an injection on the day to basically numb the muscle in there. Means he won't be able to throw the ball out I think but other than that should be ok.

well done ricey credit where it is due, he pulled off a couple off great saves on saturday and from what i heard did well, some come on lets give him some praise, we are all quick to get on his back when he has a bad game, so lets give the lad a confidence boost.

Let's not go overboard. He didn't do anything out of the ordinary, he was merely competent. Hardly his fault, since nothing more was asked of him, but let's not make out like it would have been any different a score is SG had been in goal.

Disappointed to hear that he won't be able to throw the ball out, since that was the most impressive element of his play on Saturday. Ranged his kicks well and threw the ball when appropriate, which is something Pokey seems reluctant to do.

That Barnet matey reckons the Bees are good at the back and hopeless going forward, here's hoping for another relatively quiet afternoon at Ricey's end of the field.

Fair play to Rice in the Gillingham game. But if he is injured why the hell don't we get in an emergency loan keeper. Rice will no doubt make some errors in the next three games if he plays and we just cannot afford it in our position.

Just like he would against Gillingham?

Fair point, Matt, but at least Brucie doesn't seem to be as extreme and persistent in his negativity these days..!! :~D
