Sorry to hear your news Gloster, sad times, and I agree that noone should get personal abuse, although I also cant undrrstand why anyone would let personal abuse from random strangers upset them.
Just looked through Manses Twitter, and it seems highly hypocritical for him to complain about criticism on a football forum, when he criticises both an individual and a team whom im guessing he follows, just a few posts earlier ( Townsend for England snd some NFL team he went to see at wembley). What was that you were saying abiut throwing stones!!

If you want an example of a Professional Footballer.....no not David Beckam although he is probably the best example I can think of. A player who has taken dogs abuse from OUR fans, never reacted, got on with his job, never complained, waited for his chance AND taken it when it came his way.......step up Martin Rice. Puts it into proper perspective I think.

I don't think anyone has suggested it's right that players are abused in such a way, a fair few seem to agree with my opinion though that Manse shouldn't have complained about it in public.

This is a reasonable point. Couple of things though. Firstly, everyone is different - and just because Rice has responded impeccably, doesn't mean it should be assumed everyone would do the same. Secondly, Manse's contribution to our club far exceeds anything that Rice (or the vast majority of others in the history of the club) have done. So perhaps he deserves a little more respect after a few poor games than personal abuse of himself and his family.
Rather than focus on the rights or wrongs of Manse's reaction, we should be focussing on the instigators. In my opinion, Manse is completely right to highlight it, and criticise those that did it. To merely ignore it, just gives them free reign to keep doing it - be that to Manse himself or others.

I spoke to 3 people who "follow" manse on twitter and none of them could think of any post on twitter at any time that was a personal attack on manse.....just wonder if he has blown the whole thing out of proportion? Their opinions were strongly that his feelings were hurt about the previously mentioned post on this very forum, and not twitter
I stand to be corrected, but i just wonder if there actually were any personal attacks at all ?
It's an important issue because whilst it is not good that Manse should ever feel bullied, likewise we are in danger of going on a witch hunt for someone who may not exist......at least in the eyes of the average fan.

I think we should all put this to one side now. Manse didn't let the side down today and was as pleased as anybody at the final whistle, you could see it etched on his face. Let's just let bygones be bygones and hope things continue improve for Manse on (in terms of performances) and off (in terms of him not getting anymore futile abuse on twitter) the field. Well done today Manse, it was appreciated!

I think the fans got behind the players really well today considering, myself included. It was just Knill who attracted the abuse and rightly so because he is a soiled nappy and should be discarded.
