Ha! I'm sat here waiting for Hector to rise to the bait ...... !! Re your other post, yes - I agree that it's strange that Yeoman wasn't included in the squad. as you rightly say, he's one of the players who definitely needs more game time.

I agree - the conference is probably his level now

Oh did I miss something? Did the non-scoring expert score? No? Not even against Tivvy? Well, that is a surprise!

4 of 11 are genuinely first team players out of that lot. That's 36% of the team. Neither of the central defenders are the best at the club. Benyon hasn't kicked a ball since pre-season. Nor has Chaney. Nor has Berry. Nor has Harding. So that's as many players who haven't seen a pitch for 6 months as regular starters. Add in Comedy Rice, one-first-team-game-ever Ives and no-first-team-games-ever Parcell and it's about as far from a starting XI as I can imagine.
It was any old team chucked together playing with more than one eye on the biggest league game of the season coming up. It was a meaningless friendly against a pub side which we dominated totally and lost on the toss of a coin. It's about as meaningful as Man Utd beating Real Madrid in the summer.

Harding played at the start of the season (Gateshead and Welling?), prior to picking up an injury.

I think the reaction to this game from us fans is more down to the general position of the club, rather than the fact we lost to Tiverton in the Devon Bowl. As an established League 2 club two seasons on the spin our team was beaten away at Homers Heath by Buckland who I believe are a lower ranked side than Tiverton and both threads barely got 10 replies, as must of us, myself included really weren't that bothered, yet as a struggling conference side a defeat in the Devon Bowl and all hell breaks loose.

Matt's right in the sense that Ives, Harding, Benyon haven't played no where near enough games to be considered 1st team starters at the moment, and Berry hasn't really played any football at all, that said, where I believe Matt is wrong is to suggest those players are 2nd string regardless of how many games they've played, there was more than enough quality in that side to have beaten Tiverton at home with some ease.

The fact we haven't shows there's more problems behind the scenes than perhaps we suspect on and off the field. we can blame players attitudes all we like, mutual respect should run two ways, the one thing all players will agree on whether they're internationals, semi-pros or local players is, if the team is winning the manager simply can not change the team, but we've just lost 6 out of our last 7 games, and the only change made is Seabright for Rice, so why should other players who can't get a game in a side that's lost at Alfreton and Telford suddenly turn to play Tiverton in the mighty bowl and just be excepted to turn it on, so if some of these players are thinking well ok if that's the way it's going to be I'll fork around for 6 months take my money and run, really who can blame them, sides getting beat every week, and some players seem to be able to keep their place regardless.

I think you have answered the question there and it is a very similar situation that we find ourselves in but ours is really restricted to scoring goals and the present first team strikers are not scoring any where near enough but the problem is when the second string play their games none or very few are performing well which tells me they are no better than what we already have in the first team. Whether it be down to lack of ability or lack of commitment only you will know the answer to that in your case but which ever is applicable is no use whatsoever to you.

Matt.
Martin Rice; Angus MacDonald, Tom Cruise, Aaron Downes, Courtney Richards, Toby Ajala, Ryan Bowman, Duane Ofori-Acheampong

We used eight genuine first team players in that game. Some played the whole game and others came on at half time or early in the second half.

As somebody who is usually a stickler for the facts, you don't seem to be this time around.

Scott - I have always thought Matt's future is in politics. He's a stickler for the facts ..... when they match his viewpoint ! ;-) Also - (quote) "Neither of the central defenders are the best at the club" Eh ??? Who are the mythical central defenders better than Downes and MacDonald ?

Just wondered if it's normal for you not to provide half-time drinks and food at the end for the visiting team - are you that hard up?

Your team would've got it if you come up to this little old pub team at Ladysmead !

Sorry Brucie. That was just plainly rude offensive and uncalled for. He is right. other teams have some manners and respect. It seems this was missing just like in your reply. Respect engenders respect. I suspect if none is forthcoming that may well be one of the problems in our club,
When you show no respect you don't get much if any in return. That can have repercussion in all sorts of ways
It doesn't matter how small the team is. the least we can do is show some respect.

Spot on, Gloster. If we'd gone to Ladysmead and there were no half time drinks or pasties available, there would have been a right old grouse on here. We are descending into an amateur run outfit and if we can't even provide half time refreshments, it seems we have become a poorly run amateur outfit. Anyway, to Will4 - good luck against Willand in the next round. Not sure if you're home or away, but if away, I bet there will be a hot drink and oggie available at Willand !
