Using this site feels like a battle of wills quite often and it needn't be like that. Just lighten up a bit is what I say. Yeah we're sh*t, some moan and whinge but I know how to enjoy going to watch Torquay and I have a right laugh. Maybe some of you lost that enjoyment of going to Torquay win, lose or draw and are bringing this sterileness to the forum, I don't know to be honest. COYY!!

I may not always agree with your posts Andy but you certainly don't get on my nerves. I enjoy your pre-match mad posts and at the very least, you provoke discussions (or even heated arguments !) on the Forum. The thing is - everyone posts on the Forum, or reads the posts, because they are smitten with the Torquay United 'bug'. We all have opinions on how things could be improved or done differently. There is a wide spectrum - from those who think we are as good, or better, than any team we have played (except possibly Fleetwood) to those who think we should run up the White Flag and make preparations to visit Nuneaton, Gateshead and Braintree next season. Somewhere in between the two is reality. We are passionate. To quote the late, great Bill Shankly - 'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.'

As you say, some on here need to lighten up a bit. They will learn in time that Life was never meant to be taken seriously. Newton Abbot Gull had a bit of a pop at you and to be fair, his post was logical and I agreed with much of it. But it would have held more weight if we weren't one point off the bottom of the league, only won two games so far and only one in seven at home, conceded more goals than anyone else except Cheltenham and only four teams have scored less than us. Someone included a link about Knill's dismissal from Scunthorpe where it said there was a lack of passion or desire in the team. That is virtually what you posted after the Burton match and it is what I've seen from the first match. Portsmouth was better so let's hope that kind of tempo and desire continues at Bury and beyond. Up the Gulls !

I think under Ling I lost sight of the fact that I enjoy going to watch Torquay so much, his brand of football numbed me but now I've got used to Knill's even worse brand and i'm determined to just enjoy going to the games regardless. Matchdays are a great occasion for me whenever I am fortunate enough to go and the anticipation builds in me for days before. After Bury on Saturday I shall already be planning and looking forward to the next game I can get to (which could be Chesterfield at home with a bit of luck). Whether we win, lose or draw like I said we should change our mindsets to not see attending games as a chore. We may not be able to affect the result on the pitch but we sure as hell can have a bloody good time.

NA Gull and others have a right to their opinion but if their replies were critical but well meaning then I've no problem with it. It's the bad attitude that puts me on the defensive.
