The funniest thing and I don't want any comments about what he did etc. etc but last few games there's been no atmosphere as there's no drummer, now the comment is it because he's a steward now? No Barlow is and was shit on the drum, believe it or not the drummer was Callum Dougherty the one who was banned (don't want to talk about it simply on about his drumming so don't start it's been talked about and dealt with).

Thing is apart from away day Paul, Callum is the only one who can play the flaming thing and he can at it well, in tune and in time, personally think this is why the atmosphere had deteriorated over last few games,'Exeter home last season I remember he played that drum 90 minutes non stop up by the away end and as you know place was rocking, give the lad a louder drum and he could have plainmoor rocking week in week out.

He is going to need a louder drum if he has to play it from outside of the ground! I always take a good book and a blanket for my knees

The main reason for the lack of atmosphere is the altitude. It's quite a climb up to Plainmoor. Whenever I get there, it takes a couple of hours for me to get my breath back..

If I've had a good lunch before getting to Plainmoor, the atmosphere around me is pretty thick :} But seriously ..... it's a chicken and egg situation. The players have to give us something to get us going. Plainmoor was rocking for the first 15 minutes of the Hartlepool game and then the play became increasingly pedantic and predictable. I wish I had been sat behind Stefano so i could have looked over his shoulder to read his book ......

I'm a drummer and have played in many bands so I'd be a candidate although I honestly couldn't be arsed on the day to be the Gulls skinsman on matchday. It would just be too much hassle. I don't mind the singing and other stuff but if I was solely responsible for the percussion output I wouldn't be prepared to do it. It's a big thing. I'd probably end up trying to play some Sepultura beats anyway!

Need a group of people who all get along, enjoy banter, get to the ground together, chanting on the way. advertising themselves, and having a good laugh. I've always wanted to go in the middle, but never got round to it (never ever settled on a spot in 10 years). Someone ought to make a facebook group

I posted this on the mods section about a week ago but as this has come up again I felt I'd post it here aswell..

Just an idea that I thought I'd share but I thought I'd do it here to gauge an idea of what a few of you think before I said it on the main site. Anyway I came across this website recently, and its got me thinking about it really. At the end of the day we are there to have fun and back the team, and reading the articles that are on that website, it seems that having fun is the main priority, fans go and enjoy themselves. It isn't just at the big clubs too (see the reports of FC United + Salzburg), but how much better would it be if fans were united in unison enjoying themselves, having fun and supporting the team? Rather than a group at the moment that sing about Joe Barlow and such..

I don't think it'd be that hard to do either, personally. Flags, yellow pages and perhaps a drum would go some way to doing it, in my opinion. Obviously I'm not suggesting flares and smoke bombs and all that as that is stupid, but I've gotta admit that home games have felt like a chore recently, and they would be more fun if there was a lot more of an atmosphere around the place.

Think it'd be great if say 2/3 years down the line we had earned ourselves a reputation of being loud and proud (like Pompey were t'other night). Probably something that won't happen but I believe if there is enough of us willing then it can happen! And it isn't a case of naming it as the 'fanatics' or whatever, it is just a case of having some fun.

I was able to listen to our fans courtesy of BBC Radio Gloucestershire yesterday and even though we were winning and there was a decent crowd by our standards in attendance there was very little atmosphere coming over. A few times I did hear Yellow army and come on you yellows but not often and it was toward the end of the match.
Some have countered that we need to be winning to get enthusiastic about singing. So what excuse do you all have for yesterday.
One on this thread made such a comment and wondered if he would have been better reading someone else's book over his shoulder. Well we were winning yesterday and it still sounded like a morgue for much of the match.

Bearing in mind we won 4-2 and played ok it appears the apathy is not just out there in the stands. If we had lost 4-2 then rest assured the site would have been clogged up with people wanting to have their say. You can say well done when we win you know as much as you can have a go if we lose, it won't hurt you.
