We took Reading all the way a few years ago at home, why not Leicester. The only concern of mine is that it has been years since we made it into Round 2. 2001 if I remember, an away tie at Tottenham?

I hate to say it (I REALLY hate it), but I think we looked a much better prospect against higher rated opposition in cup competitions (and PSF) under the previous manager. It seemed that he was a man quite adept at sending out a team in a one off match which, really, we had no right to win, and get a result. Can't think of any ready examples (aside from Leeds and Burnley in the PSF) but I'm sure there is a basis to this belief.
Still, as good as Leicester are (and they really are very good indeed), no real reason why we shouldn't cause an upset, I guess.
Matt.

Completely agree. Our cup runs under Buckle really were remarkable. Even when we did lose to higher opposition I always felt watching as if we could have won the game. However, Ling might have the same ability and was just unlucky last campaign. I guess we'll find out in the coming cup fixtures...

To be fair to Martin Ling though, our cup exploits last season were ended away to two of the top teams in the Championship (and now playing Premier League football) in Southampton and League 1's Sheffield United, where without a few minutes of madness, we could have so easily caused an upset.
Many of Buckles cup successes were at home most of the time as well, which gave us a better chance of causing an upset.

I don't think anyone can make that judgement yet; 1) Buckle had 4 seasons and Ling at the minute has only had one complete season at TUFC. 2) as the post says above, we played Southampton away for the league cup, who then went on to get promoted to the Premier League later on in the season. Then in the second round in the FA Cup we played a very good and large club in Sheffield United away when the team and club were determined to win for Gary Speed. To add to that, we played very well overall and just had a moment when we lost it, but defintley deserved a replay. So in short, I think it's very unfair to say that we had better success with Buckle in the cup runs, when Ling has only had one season with us.

But I would back Martin Ling to be able to put a side out that could beat a BSP side in the 4th round of a cup competition. All Buckle's cup pedigree disintegrated in that one moment, not one shot on target.
