Can't believe nobody else came up with Johnny Haynes.

Righto. Ok now I ain't got any chips but heres a question for you all.
Of the England world Cup winning team. who was the last member to hang up his boots, Who did he play for and what was his last match. And as a bonus can you guess the score and who was the opposition team,
For those who think they are too clever give us any of the crowd and their names and addresses. One will do.

Probably Alan Ball at the Gas, no idea who his last game would have been against but I reckon friendlygas was in the crowd for an extra bonus point

Right on Alan Ball. Right on the GAS. His last match was playing for Rovers V Cardiff City which was a 1-1 draw equaliser by one David Williams who last I heard was on the Staff and Manu as coach. I don't know about FriendlyGas but you missed the obvious one.. How else would I have known all the stats. Or as one Famous Welshman put it. I Know, cos I was there.
A fact I have no doubts the Gas fans are proud of. Untill we win the World Cup again.
P.S Congrats to Trojan for one of the most interesting threads on the Forum.
FriendlyGas will no doubt confirm if he was there in due course. Although you couldn't come up with any addresses so only half a bonus point
For those who really do like a chuckle. Wifey looked at the question and came up with the Name "Bobby Ball"!! Ehh Rock on Tommy

Now another one for you. Many matches have been abandoned over the years for various reasons and the result has been subsequently struck off the record. But how many league matches have been abandoned and the result allowed to stand. 1 point for first anwer and 1 point each for each match that was affected

Of the top of my head, the Pigs V West Brom result about 8 or 9 years ago stood after that lovely man Colin got a player to fake injury so the Pigs were down to 6 players, having already had 3 sent off and lost another one to injury after using all thier subs. 8/ 8/ 8/Glostergull wrote:I'll give yer plastic. yer sozzled ole git.

I can remember the 1973/74 Manchester derby that was abandoned when Dennis Law backheeled a goal for City that ultimately relegated ManUre, and their fans invading the pitch trying to get the game abandoned but the result stood.
Another one was a midweek match between Barrow and Gillingham in 1972 which was abandoned due to bad light as Gillingham had had a series of travelling mishaps and Barrow didnt have any floodlights, but with the score at 7-0 at the time the league decided to let the result stand.
Middlesboro v Oldham was abandoned in 1915 when one of the Oldham players was sent off but refused to leave the field.
There is one other, the Bradford v Lincoln match in 1985 when the fire broke out that killed 56 people, but a quick look at the Football League records for that year shows the two clubs having played only 45 matches as they didn't want to replay the match and it didn't affect promotion or relegation, so I dont think that one counts. 8-]
