I can't booze in the day Bix, i'm on medication ( not anti-psychotic ones so don't worry everyone! ). If i go to a pub before a game i just usually have a coke and read the paper. Oh and on the 2/3rds empty theme. I anticipate the crowd to be about 7 0r 8 thousand therefore 4 times this amount (32000) would probably be the capacity of Bramall Lane so by my reckoning it will be a quarter full (8000) therefore 3/4 empty (24000). Based on your maths Bix if the Lane is 2/3rds empty than that would indicate a crowd of nearly 11000 on saturday which won't be the case. Fractions were never my strong point but that is what i meant by 3/4 empty.
My wednesday mate can't come as he is working, he works alternate weekends which is why he was able to come to Chesterfield last week. I buck the trend for conforming to the stereotype of the tight yorkshireman (must be the Austrian in me). If i got it i'll spend it, hence profusions of betting activity on most days of the week, and if i ain't got it i can't spend it. Croatia let me down tonight. I knew we (Austria) would lose in Ukraine as we are shite. We equalised on 72, they had a man sent off afterwards and we still let in a 92nd minute winner for Ukraine. Why are we so crap?!!!! So frustrating. No gloating about England either, yes you've won two on the spin but still a million miles from winning a major tournament.

Of course it's the same time as Wednesday because neither crowd will get near 10,000
8000 at Wednesday
6000 at United.
But of course it's a massive game..........
it is a big game that hopefully we can win but I wonder how this best draw and massive game would look if the people calling it that didn't live in sheffield...hmmm

I take your point Royal, i live near Sheffield but you've got to remember that United and Wednesday ARE the biggest clubs left in round two and so therefore for us to get them in the draw it becomes a massive game. I'm not saying massive in terms of financial reward, although if we get a replay or beat them we will be guaranteed more money. We may get more money by playing AFC Totton at home i admit but in terms of keeping the prestige and romance in the competition , Sheffield United is the best we could have hoped for. If we had drawn Portsmouth, Southampton or Bristol City ( if they were in league 1 ) then the argument would be reversed as all you southern gulls would be happy playing a big club away whilst us that live in sheffield would be probably saying the same as you! Kiss my face! But not too much as i've got a photoshoot for vision express in the morning.

Not really, same principal applies if we had to draw one of the Sheffields then I would have wanted them at home. Ditto Pompey or Bristol City who get crap home crowds anyway but would have taken a good contingent to the bay. It would also give us a slightly better chance of winning.
But it is what it is.

Let's put aside all negative thoughts about this game. I've a feeling the Gulls will do much better than Oxford did in the last round. A draw is a distinct possibility. Even a win is not unachievable:
In the past month or two, the Blades have drawn at home to Bradford in the JPT, and in the league they drew 4-4 with Exeter, were beaten 0-2 by Charlton Athletic and 0-3 by Huddersfield. Away, they lost 2-1 at Stevenage and 1-0 at Wycombe, and drew 1-1 at Leyton Orient.
If the Gulls maintain their current form there's no reason why they cannot achieve a result at Bramall Lane.

i didnt realise the capacity was that high at the lane, i always thought it was 27,000 but its irrelevant anyway, i think there'll be 10-11000 there this time, what with the cheap deals, hopefully not too many rough tough northern types will fall for the complete waste of time that is christmas shopping (just say no, its all a waste of money, except the beer!!) and come to the match for a tenner

The Moustache and I have a proper dilemma. As previously stated on other threads, the 'Tash plays rugby league on Saturdays and he's a top amateur player, (he's turned out for both Doncaster and Sheffield Eagles reserves in the past), and he's got a match that Saturday. To make matters worse its agains't our clubs local rivals, the one he played for as a junior, and just to compound the problem ZippyGull and The Zoid + Wendy are wanting to come up and visit PigShitHole lane for the first time, but we've been before so there isn't even the draw of a new ground! Thats why we wanted it switching to Sunday.
AAAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

I can think of one or two of our fans who must be on medication too. One sits on a certain step. lol

On Saturday (26 November) Sheffield United are away in the league to our defeated Round 1 opponents Chesterfield. Should be interesting to compare the Blades' performance against them with our own emphatic victory.
Exeter City recently drew 4-4 in a league game at Bramall Lane. I'm confident the Gulls can do at least as well as that; on their current form even a win on 3 December would not surprise me that much.

Blades have just signed former England striker James Beattie. Could be a long afternoon for us at Bramall Lane i fear!

He's a very bag lad now (and always was by all accounts), you never know this could work in our favour as Ellis is more comfortable under a long ball if they hoof long to Beattie. Will definietely need a big game from the defence though. However, i think a pacy striker would trouble our defence more, with the quickest defender that starts possibly being Oastler, who isn't exactly lightening fast.
