You never know, we could sign a forward today and things might look a little rosier

Think it will take more than this to propel us forward to better things, personally I would focus on building the foundation around the defence, any striker currently will have to score 3 a game for us to win, Sam Allardyce is proving that point with 6 points from 2 clean sheets!

Not disagreeing but you take the players you can get (afford) when you can get (afford) them as Shankly would have known.

Is the term 'rosier' a clue to this potential 'signing'?
The only forward called rose is Danny Rose who plays for Bury..
Mr Caldwell ....couldnt help but think back to the cup game at Bristol City. I am sure you remember it well.......
Nice to see some well rounded sensible posts above
I remember that Bristol City cup game well, walking back to the train station sounded by City fans was a real pleasure, as was the train journey home.

That was some day and a great contest, we won it with what I would say was my top 3rd goal ever scored! Great times

Fair enough, wasn't aware of the situation at Whitehawk, just went for the classic "I'm assuming they're smaller than us". The sad reality is we're unlikely to get any backers in the foreseeable future because unless they're die hard Torquay fans, the club isn't a viable business opportunity for them to invest in. Until the business side (and the football side) of the club is run in a professional and well done manner, we won't be going anywhere anytime soon.Gulliball wrote:Whitehawk are a bankrolled club. Their potential is as far as their backers are willing to fund, not the crowds they get through the gates. At this level revenue is largely crowds + owner backing. We are currently relying 100% on money we generate ourselves, competing against sides that have person(s) willing to make-up any differences.
Let's not forget that Torquay United lost £700k and £600k in the two seasons we spent down here 2007-2009. We would not have been promoted within two years (or at all?) without the money of the Bristows. That £1.3m allowed us to cherry pick the Nicholsons, Hargreaves, Sills, Todds etc of the division to compete at the top end. Just like we would not have a new stand, or be able to just write off £3m of debt without the money from the Bristows. We have had our time living ahead of our means with a backer making up the difference. Now others are doing this while we are suffering by living within our means. That's why teams you think are small have more money than us.

Blimey we have about 8 forwards already why do we need another? Unless of course he knows how to score goals! Having said that he would have to score more every game than our 'defence' concedes.Southampton Gull wrote:You never know, we could sign a forward today and things might look a little rosier

2nd best Goal against Mossley in FA cup with Mansfield ran from our defending corner and beat about 5 players and hit it in the roof of the net.
1st best goal was in South Africa against Orlando Pirates, ball bounced once, headed it up in the air and overhead kicked it from 25 yards into the top corner! Would struggle to head it in the air now lol!

TUFC debut overhead kick goal. Mr Caldwell, I am doing a history of TUFC collage on a canvas for my Dad, I would like to put one of these two goal pictures on it, Dad would be well chuffed if I told him you picked your photo for it, so, if you could choose which one should I use?
Thanks.
You are my torquay, my only torquay, you make me happy when skies are grey, you'll never know, just, how much i love you, so don't take my torquay away.
