seems a bit of a strange one this, as he has just moved into new digs in the bay, bit of an odd one if you were going to be moving away, still think he will be useful along side marsh! im still looking to find some official news on this but cant find anything.

All will be forgiven if we end the season challenging for promotion with Bowman on 25 goals..

Apparently we circulated Bowman's name to ALL Northern Conf clubs on Tuesday as available for loan due to wages!!

just found out its true, looks like he is off to gateshead, cox has irons in the fire to replace him.
It may well be that Bowman wanted to return north - we will probably never know all the reasons for this unexpected move. But his attitude problem is not 'only a perceived one'. It was rumoured that he'd fallen out with Ajala and you could see him mouthing off at team-mates in many games last season. I suspect his problem is that he thinks he is a better player than he really is. Anyone who has played football even at South Devon league six level will know that if you get a player who is mouthing off all the time, it affects the whole morale of the team. It's not only football of course. Look at cricket's Kevin Pietersen - great player, awful ego attitude.forevertufc wrote:This attitude problem that Bowman has, is only perceived one. If I had £1 for every time Bowman made a run, got into a good position, either not to receive the ball, or see Ajala try and skip a 3rd, 4th and 5th tackle just to lose the ball, or as said, see a long, hoofed ball land in another postcode, think there were more than a few times Bowman was justified to chuck his arms in the air.
As said in the post above Bowman at times was feeding of scraps, nothing wrong with play the long ball game if there's some purpose to it, personally was not surprised at all Bowman got so clearly frustrated last season.
Before he came to us, he was on a two-year contract at York and knocked in a few goals in his first season in a struggling side. I have always wondered why they were willing to let him go for free after only one year of his contract. He may do well at Gateshead but it will be interesting to see if they want to sign him at the end of his loan period (presumably it will be for the season).

Very few of the York fans I've spoken to were disappointed when he left. Pretty similar comments really and whilst he can get goals here and there no doubt, overall they thought they were better off without him. Given what happened at York last season I dare say there were points in the season where they would have loved to have him back! The general consensus of those 0.001% of York fans I've spoken to is that Bowman wasn't the 'right fit'. Again, I can't speak for all York fans obviously but there you go.tomogull wrote: It may well be that Bowman wanted to return north - we will probably never know all the reasons for this unexpected move. Interesting to read about Bowman from a York perspective, Andy. The 'right fit' is a very good description ! Hope all goes well at Bootham Crescent in the coming season.

I'm guessing he must be on a decent wedge of cash then if we are loaning him out to save money, yet still hoping to bring somebody else in to replace him....especially as we will be wanting that person to play better/score more than Bowman at less cost to us.

Don't know why you take the risk of offloading a known goalscorer at this level to replace him with a cheaper alternative thats still got to do the job!
Bowman scored goals with poor service last year, I'd rather focus on the midfield to improve that!

Plenty has already been said on the matter but for me, he never seemed to click with the rest of the team. A real loner and PC wants everybody pulling in the same direction as a team and not pandering to the needs of one player.
Last season, he three several strops and angry glances if he wasn't passed to at certain times. I can't remember which game it was towards the end of last season but after missing an open goal himself, he then threw an evil look towards Ajala when he didn't receive the ball for another shot a few minutes later. At the time I remember a few on the Popside commenting on why Ajala should pass to a man who's just missed a sitter.
Having said that about his apparent attitude, I liked him last season and he was a goal scorer. It's just a shame he didn't appear to enjoy himself during games. Always played with a scowl even when scoring.
Fairhurst, Marsh, Yeoman and Pryn now leaves us looking a bit light up front but I'm not too concerned with a push for the playoffs this year. I'll be happy to see a pattern of play developed and then something to build on for next year.
Let's not expect miracles!
