Or our payoff to him is closer to 100% of the remaining 10months of his contract, so any deal he takes is pretty much a pay rise for Karl.lucy6lucy wrote:If he was as previously stated one of top earners whilst at the club, either Alfreton have gone for bust in signing him or he has taken some massive pay cut.

Either way Torquay are better without him. His career has gone downwards, and that must be a worry to him. We will never know the deal to get rid but I doubt we paid him off the remaining 10 months.Jeff wrote: Or our payoff to him is closer to 100% of the remaining 10months of his contract, so any deal he takes is pretty much a pay rise for Karl.

Correct Jeff, thank the majority of the Billy Kee £££ to get rid of Hawley!Jeff wrote: Or our payoff to him is closer to 100% of the remaining 10months of his contract, so any deal he takes is pretty much a pay rise for Karl.

I'm sure it wasn't the full 10 months, but I bet it wasn't far from it. Put yourself in his shoes - he's going to make sure that he's looked after financially (as we all would do), so I'd be surprised if this has cost us anything less than 6 months of whatever his salary was.
But agreed - we are well rid.

The lad did ok he's not going to be short of a few pound
Given they waited for him to find another club before letting him go I imagine they have paid enough to top up his Alfreton wages for the next 10 months to give him the same take home pay in the end.
