I think David Thomas is pretty much alluding to the notion - that even last season - Knill didn't really fulfil his remit. He had a couple of wins running, a bit like he did a couple of weeks ago.

It is nothing to do with hating the bloke, just that I never bought the notion that he kept us up. Our form was pretty patchy under him - we didn't suddenly zoom up the table, in fact we got nearer to the drop. His record over those final weeks was no better than the other clubs who were struggling.

He certainly did nothing that warranted him being greeted as a saviour or people pushing him for the job. It was always a disaster waiting to happen.

To be fair Danny I didn't think that when lingy last took charge of our team we were in a dismal position, it was the fiasco that followed in the next month that dropped us down the table into a relegation scrap. I don't want to go over old ground as it's been done to death but if Sean would have won a few games knill wouldn't have been offered the job and lingy would have returned to his post. If you look at the league table on 28th jan we were a couple of games away from the playoffs with games in hand. But everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect yours all the same

Knill kept us up by getting lucky with 2 wins against Barnet and Morecambe, especially Morecambe.

We have some graceless supporters. I thought Ling a terrible manager by the end, but appreciated the fact he would have at least tried to do his best for the club, so wished him well on his departure (not that he'd have cared or even known, but it's the thought that counts). You can be sure that Knill tried to do his best for TUFC during his tenure. It shouldn't be too much to thank him for his efforts and wish him well.

I think the Morecambe one was lucky. One of their defenders got sent off early and then we went 1 up due to a back pass to the keeper which he completely miskicked and it went in. We never looked like scoring again until Yeoman came on and scored a beauty with his first touch. The stats say a 2-0 win but it was poor and it was lucky but on the whole he kept us up. We beat Chesterfield, Barnet, got that draw with Daggers and Accrington too 0-0 (where we were equally as poor as at Morecambe) and also the draw with Brizzle last game so all in despite the performances by and large being a pre cursor to this season, he did well stats wise considering the pressure.

As regards Ling I also wished him well because I thought he had ability but for some reason he had a blinkered outlook on how to approach football matches which he was very reluctant to change. This hampered him and I still believe if he was amenable to change then he would still be here now. Not a bad manager at all just stubborn. I liked him in fact, seemed a decent bloke and made some great signings for us. Knill on the other hand made countless clueless and truly bizarre decisions on a regular basis, largely awful signings for which he needed loanees to cover his arse, the football was crap as were the results, he was morose as a character and I just didn't like the man at all. Can't put my finger on it but thought he was ignorant and arrogant. That's it.

Yes, I shall never forget the "Miracle of Morecambe" & neither will Yeoman for the best goal of his career........

Barnet........ I expect the goal keeper is still trying to work out how he let that goal in,

Knill..... was a poor manager manager when he came here, & even worse when we sacked him IMO.
