Surprised to say the least. Unless Mozika has been completed??
If what we have here now (and that is with Morris also leaving) were not good enough last year when Alan came in then surely they are not good enough this year?
I think someone would have said something if Mozika signed! not good :/ hopefully we're not spending out on two more 'first choice' strikers, I'm more than happy with Benyon + one other, with yeoman as a replacement! I'd rather have the money spent on a central midfielder!

I am sure Matt will tell us Craig is the answer but I think we need to strengthen here!
For me we need 6 minimum
First choice CB
CB/RB Cover
Central Midfield
Striker x2 (A big man and someone with pace who might also be able to do a shift on the wing ideally)
Winger

On the O S Knill suggests that the players out of contract are now getting edgy. Are these the ones that are left in the bottom of the bucket? Does he believe that others who are still considering offers from several clubs are still in the bucket?

Craig is one part of the puzzle, certainly. I may have an incomplete list in my mind, but our genuine midfielders (not Lathrope/Cruise) are Bodin, Manse, Craig and Tommo. Now, for me, that's lovely. Bodin and Tommo providing pace and width (and some goal threat), Manse going box to box and Craig pulling strings. Lovely, until one of them is sent off/injured. We need three midfielders really, a big, tall fecker (Mozika?), another battler and a utility wideman/striker/defensive cover (a little like Jarvis crossed with Lathrope). That gives us options. We van be big and horrible by playing Manse, Mozika and Utility and one other. We can be pacy, with Bodin and Tommo alongside Mozika and Craig. We can be a mix of both. We can be direct (utility, Manse, Mozika further forward and a big striker [Manset]).
Our other option is to just be one dimensional and go from there. Pick a thing and get really good at it. It worked last year. Northampton were shit, let's not pretend they weren't, their football was virtually non-existent. However, they were big and strong and they played on it to great effect. Similarly, Cheltenham, they offer nothing but pace. Pace, pace, pace and it works. The year before last, we did the same thing. We sat back, defended deep, hit teams on the counter and came within a cheating manager/gullible referee combo of promotion. I don't think this is Knilly's style, I think he'll prefer winning 4-3 to 1-0, but if the budget doesn't stretch to this, 1-0 ain't a bad way to win a match.
Matt.

AK has said in the past he wants a central midfielder. Now that Morris has gone this had become more apparent. Knills first signing was Labadie! As he clearly did not rate Lathrope or Craig! Carnt see this changing. I'm sure he wants a central midfielder just as much as we do.
The big rumours are flying around Mozika!

So I am really not sure what to make of the press conference. I mean it is fairly obvious that we need 5 or more players and as someone said time is now running short. Benyon is a great signing for us but I do hope that Knill has a number of other players lined up because if he hasn't and is just waiting or hoping then we could be in some big trouble.

Keep calm Tezza, he's all over it. We're on the cusp of completing the squad, it's just that this particular cusp will take 10 days or so to be breached (is that what one does with a cusp?)
Matt.

Could be trying to put a positive spin on the decidedly uninspiring situation, in order to sell a few more season tickets.
So far our new players are:
Benyon ( good plan!) but he expressed his desire to sign before last season finished, so not much effort needed to get him on board.
Dale Tonge who only played 11 games last season for Rotherham, & was not wanted by Evans anymore, but despite this, it looks that we had to offer him a 2 year contract to get him.
Lets hope that this is an inspired signing!!
I suppose that we will just have to hope that things are better by the end of next week. Perhaps we will sign two or three season long loans.
