I could not disagree with you more. That may be the staple of rich Premier League clubs but not at our level.
Knil has it right, we have to concentrate on a core group of about 15 players of real quality supplemented with promising young talent.
Totally agree - may of 16/17 potential first team players which can then be supplemented through youth and the loan system. Hasn't Knill already confirmed this is the way he plans to do it?

That 22 does include everyone. Genuine first teamers, promising youngsters, loanees etc.
Matt.

We are expected (by everyone) to sign another 6 players. As Matt states - this would take us to 22 professionals (From Manse right down to new pro's such as Sullivan). As only 11 can start a game it means (in theory) we could have 2 people for every position.
Within this we should have 16-17 genuine first team players, then a few fringe players and then the new pro's who are learning their trade.
Simples?

Apologies to Matt, I misinterpreted his post and thought he was suggesting 22 senior pros.
As it is I hope to see us with 20 or 21 players on the books come season start (unless you're constantly rotating its unnecessary to have 8 defenders).

Same and agreed. We have 17 currently including everyone. I think 5/6 decent additions would have us in a good place.

Has Tonge got a 1 or 2 year deal?

To answer my own question, Tonge has a two year deal. Great news if he stays fit.

(at the bottom of the article)
I noticed he is listed until 2014 on the summer overview thread but glad it is 2015.

Like this tonge guy already, seems to stack up. Makes a good point that geographically what is the problem? I'd rather live here than most places in the UK. Rotherham for starters. And the further away we all are from Steve Evans and Paul Raynor the better!
We have responsibility to make them feel welcome on the pitch.
All in......

Couldn't agree more Re: the geography, Jim. Why in God's name anyone would choose almost anywhere else is beyond me. These players who want to be closer to London make me laugh. It's not as though they're living in a ten million pound Kensington Townhouse and living the high life. They're all scrimping and saving all year for their week in Malia or Ibiza or wherever. Quite why they want to pay 10x the money for everything, live in a perpetual traffic jam, get shafted for higher fines, longer waiting times, nothing but endless swathes of drab, grey concrete, 90% of your neighbours are foreign, by culture if not birth, no one smiles, everyone tries to mug you, the list goes on. Come, live in Devon, we're alright down here, that'll be the motto in Matt's Britain.
Matt.

I completely agree with you Matt.*
