Whoa Nelly! Just because brucie's criticism is OTT, doesn't mean you have to go OTT to disagree.PlainmoorRoar wrote:That lad will play in the championship one day
I hope you are right, but there are a lot of strapping young CBs around. What have you seen in Angus to make you think he is better than the bottom 48 clubs?
Genuine question.
"Also, stands aren't sentient."
I did not say your views were belittleing, what I said was......everyone is allowed to share their views, voice opinions, users are allowed to dissagree it's normaly not personal, although I will say there is no need to belittle or put some one down because of their views or the way they go about expressing them.lankyben wrote:I agree nicho hasn't been as good this season. but I don't get how you can say play cruise after a 15 mins v rochdale and 30 v southend.
also please explain how my views are belittleing
The key word is highlighted for you.

As has been said previously, we have no worst players, only those who have lost form or who have not been progressing sufficiently towards achieving their full potential.
This, as often as not, is for reasons other than footballing ones. Could it be, for example, that young Billy Bodin has been feeling homesick, or lovesick, or suffering from depression? I wouldn't wish these kinds of things on anyone, but such things do happen (remember Billy Kee), and would affect a player's performance in his job.
On the other hand, and this is the bigger problem, when the team as a whole has not been performing as it should (and we all know it has not), then there are a number of possible reasons, such as injuries, suspensions, or lack of confidence, and the answer is a footballing one, whether it be in terms of training, team selection, tactics, availability of players, or whatever. These are issues faced by all clubs every season, but in a club like Torquay with its severe financial restrictions, will take time to resolve.
Thankfully, everybody at the club knows this better than anyone, and it's clear to me that both the manager and the board (and, I have no doubt, the players themselves) have been and are taking all possible steps both to improve the current situation and to secure the club's long-term stability and success. We just need to be patient, and to give them our full support. After all, we call ourselves supporters! Otherwise, go to the Whinge and Moan Thread...

Blimey. We could list a few for this 'award'.
Bodin, Oastler, Stevens, Lathrope, Nicho, Mansell... they have all underperformed generally.
Mansell was excellent vs city and Nicho has had some good moments too, some good assists.
The other 4 have to be the real poor performers.
Bodin has it in him to be a couple of leagues higher, he just needs a goal and the confidence could come back. Who knows, but he has been poor, lacking positional knowhow.
Oastler is way too inconsistent. Excellent v Dagenham, but has been otherwise awful. Too many mistakes. Maybe Leadbitter needs a couple games in the team.
Stevens does as he does, one moment of quality per game, otherwise annonymous. Perhaps his last season here.
Lathrope needs a run in the team, but after a fairly good 1st half v city, he (like the team) lost the plot completly. He's not been as good this season, perhaps playing with injury last season has hampered him.
Looking at the squad we have, it isnt that bad at all, just too many off form at once. I think Ling needs to get Nathan Craig back in the centre, but not playing behind Howe,
for City away....
Poke
Leadbitter Saah Downes Nicho
Mansell Easton Craig
Yeoman Jarvis
Howe
It wont happen but that side is our most attacking threat right now!

Glad it made you laugh but he is absolutely right. Bodin has got the potential to play at Championship level. I just hope he develops that potential and does his development with usaustrianandygull wrote: No offence GurneyGibbs but this made me laugh.![]()

I admire your faith and self belief you both have in having 'an eye for a player' Stefano but there is no way in the world that Billy will ever play at as high a level as the Championship IMO. I know he has some latent talent but whether indeed it is good enough for even league 1 i have my doubts.

Well neither of us will know for a while and when he does play in the Championship we will both have forgotten all about it. I did say the same thing (albeit on TFF) about Ashley Barnes when he was getting slated for his performances for us, and that proved to be correct and indeed a lot quicker than I had anticipated. I find it difficult to comprehend just how many supporters of our club seem to be willing a number of our players to fail. Anyway as I said a page or two back ... ridiculous thread!austrianandygull wrote:I admire your faith and self belief you both have in having 'an eye for a player' Stefano but there is no way in the world that Billy will ever play at as high a level as the Championship IMO. Yeah, can't argue with that. As far as Ashley Barnes goes, he only made a handful of appearances for us and i saw one away at Rotherham and yes, he was woeful but Bodin has had longer and still shown me nothing. Even on loan at Crewe last season he faded badly and when i went down to Plainmoor for the last game of last season, Crewe at home, Billy started and he was abysmal. He was subbed. I suspected that things weren't right then and have been saying signing him was a huge error. I stand by this even now and if he comes good for us then i will quite happily come on here ad hold my hands up for getting something so appalling incorrect. I won't mind because it will mean he is doing the business for us and that is what we need. I don't wish our players to fail Stefano, i just find it a little difficult to remain supportive when i never see any light at the end of the tunnel.

How is that OTT? given that fact hes very young and if he keeps getting games and developing, i merely predicted he would make it to championship level, im not saying hes the next John Terry.... jesusjonnyfive wrote: Genuine question.

Calm down mate; seeing your view of him as 'OTT' is hardly a massive insult.
I think I politely asked you what particular qualities you saw in him - no need to spit the dummy about that either.
