Buckle wasn't the Messiah, he may well have been a very naughty boy, but what you did get from his sides were teams that went for it. Like one swallow doesn't make a fellatrice(look it up), so one good season doesn't make a legend of a Torquay manager. Patience is gone and for some, Ling has blown it.

It really is sinking in now why my brother stopped going last season. Score one sit on it (hang on for dear life) for the rest of the 89+ stoppages. Can't even do that this season. What is it? Lack of physical and mental fitness? What really has been going on during training? Who has been there to rigorously enforce it/monitor it/oversee it? Is it just down to tactics that are no longer fit for purpose? Has Ling's absences from training sessions (before and during illness) been contributory factors? How culpable are the board of directors? Who (if any one) has conned, ripped off, pissed up the back of our genuinely kind hearted but naive board? This season DOES need an examination at the "forensic" level. FFSakes!!! - this season isn't over yet and the necessary examination may well be carried out on a f*cking corpse!!!

Do you really wish to watch the turgid faeces of this season, next season? Be very careful of what you ask for.

I doubt being sacked for poor results is within a contract but the breaking of the contract is what triggers the compensation payment. However, one could argue that the results before Martin Ling went off sick, were sackable anyway. Certainly, managers this season have been sacked with better records.

Is he not on a 1 year rolling deal anyway? So if that is not renewed then he has to walk?

perhaps look at soccerbase and bbc yourself,because your assertion is plainly wrong. From the end of October until Ling's departure we won only THREE games and went on a silly run of something like 6 games where we threw away winning or drawing positions in a row. Two or three games running throwing games away is careless, but SIX!!!!! Ling would have been sacked by some clubs for a run like that and many of us were predicting a slide towards the relegation zone before he even went off sick. It could be that the run we went on under Taylor would have happened anyway, under Ling. it could be that it wouldn't have happened. We will never know but what is clear is that team and the performances were in decline before Martin Ling went off sick.

one year rolling contracts are not renewed. That is why they are rolling. There is always a year left.

I'm really bored with this thread now. We have a massive game tomorrow. Lets put all of our energies into supporting the boys and roaring them onto victory and the preservation of our football league status.

Look - in recent home games - with the glaring exception of one player- it isn't Poke, how the Yellow shirts have chased, harried and tackled the opposition. Benyon and Jarvis especially. Definitely more of the same for Saturday please.

Ball retention and passing piss poor still, be hey, can't overturn ingrained bad habits of a season in just a few tail-end matches.

The manager (scrutinised by the board), next season, will run training sessions like a dog face sergeant major. In the style of Gunny Highway (Clint Eastwood, Heartbreak Ridge), would be ideal.

All will start at 9.00am (not get their at 9.00, not get changed at 9.00, but start sweating at 9.00). Dawdlers too slow to get there, change, still admiring their Rolex, Mercedes, etc will have to arrive at 7.00am.

Hard, back breaking sessions will last more than what has been the usual derisory one hour. Hell, it won't be all bad, there'll be team bonding activities such as full on bare knuckle boxing, relay racing up and down Babbacombe Beach Hill and cross Bay Torquay to Brixham swimming sessions. That should take care of all morning activities.

Afternoon sessions will be in the weights room and tactics classroom followed by visits to local minimum wage places of work where the players can meet the supporters who pay their wages.

The question is has Ling got the nous,skills, coaching mentality,motivation,willing etc, to change the things that he got wrong,if he remains in post.
Surely the Chairman/Vice-Chairmen,Chief Executive ?,who will be interviewing Ling next week will want to be assured that the mistakes/failings of last season won't be repeated and will need to be convinced by Ling that he's still the man for the job. There will also be more sensitive discussions about his health and well being,and ability to do the job in the future;possibly including discussions about continuing to live away from his family.From Ling's prospective he will be seeking assurances himself about the Board's ambitions/expectations,the playing/transfer budget close season and in the new season,general club finances,etc.
He will be looking for a "vote of confidence";which depending on the answers to the above may or may not come from the Board.-if it doesn't I think he will resign.

I don't think Ling remaining our manager is a given,by any means. At least we may have someone lined up if the discussions don't work out.

As stated before, this generous, kind hearted board has no experience of doing the nasty (some will see necessary) when it comes to sacking managers. Maybe Thea will have to lose £5 million and the rest their £5 each before the necessary happens,

After further thought, the start times for morning activities needs to be 7.00am for keen starters and 5.00am for dawdlers.

If Wimbledon,York or Barnet go down its very questionable whether sacking the manager has worked-though of course its quite possible they would have been relegated with their previous managers in charge-which would certainly be true of the Gargs,under Fletcher,I think.
Definitely backfired on Aldershot.
