Is there anybody out there ever? WE WON!!!!

WE WON! WE WON! WE WON! WE WON! WE WON! WE WON! WE WON! WE WON! WE WON!

Go on, say something positive about us.

Ahh go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, GO ON!!

(Not my words - the words of Mrs Doyle herself).

Won't yer have a little sing song at home to celebrate the win? (said in a southern irish accent)

Oh go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on.

Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Benyon up front with McCallum was the change we all asked for after the last game and, given Knill's homework on his former side, I guess he preferred movement and workrate over hold-up and guile which, having not had the benefit of reading the scouting reports, none of us could really judge either way.

Given that last year's PO finalists are currently bottom and that Rovers beat Oxford today, we can reasonably suggest that matches in this division aren't really a contest of skill. Today, we read that we were bollocks and got three points against a pretty poor side. Last weekend, we were pretty good against a pretty good side and got a point. We were no worse than Oxford and got humped 3-1 and we more than matched Rochdale, only to get beaten 1-0. We weren't a whole lot better than Chelts and scored 4 goals. This division, more so this year than ever, is a coin toss. It really wouldn't surprise me to see us take a point or three against Chesterfield.

Matt.
I think you are right there. Fleetwood are top, having lost 5 games. Only two less than us. One team going a little unnoticed are Scunny. I had it my head that they weren't doing very well (probably after their heavy home defeat to Exeter) but a look at the table sees they have only lost 3 games and are only as low as 8th because they have drawn so many. Obviously hard to beat along with Oxford and Chesterfield. Everyone else seem to be 'win one/lose one' sort of teams, other than the group at the bottom.

I have just been reading through the Bury programme and caretaker manager Ronnie Jepson's notes are very interesting. He basically talks you through previous Bury games like the ones they have just played against Mansfield and Wycombe and he states which players were dropped, switched and why and what they were told to do and what was hoped they would do.

Does Knill do this in his programme notes? Who gives a sh*t as I've been quite rightly told! Knill can do whatever the hell he likes and the bloke is alright in my book. Is he alright? Well he is when it suits some I suppose!

Hey what the hell i'll join in! Knill was the man for the job today and I've forgotten about the previous 14 games but next week should he not beat Rochdale then he won't be the man anymore but should he beat Chesterfield the week after he'll be the man again in my eyes! I love this game!

It's like when we're sh*t we get clogged up with posts but when we're not sh*t everyone conveniently has a busy social calendar so much so that they forget to post!! I might try this and then I might not get so much bullsh*t from sycophants!! GREAT GAME!! Send the idea to MB on behalf of football fans, patent it and you'll be a millionaire.

Good result today. Are we beginning to turn the corner ? The way this season has gone so far, I'll take the three points even if we didn't play particularly well. Well done to you 200 supporters who were at the game and presumably got a thorough soaking.

Does Knill do this in his programme notes? Explain the reasons behind why he has picked a particular player for a particular game or what he told the lads to do in previous games and what he expected of them? I just think Jepson is being totally transparent and at least the fans are seeing the reasoning behind what he is trying to do.

Interesting
Every manager has their own style. I don't think a manager has to justify every decision he makes.Just let him get on with the job.

This was a pretty good away performance. We were solid at the back, scored from two set pieces and counter attacked very well. Benyon's cutback for McCallum was brilliant, he wasn't in a particularly dangerous position and only had one player to aim for. Five seconds later the ball is in the back of the net.

The downpour in the second half was the worst I have ever seen at a game. It only rained heavily for 5-10 mins but the pitch was waterlogged. On one side of the pitch the ball was not rolling at all, and with 15 mins left and a 3-1 lead it was nervous to see if the game would be finished.

McCourt was very unlucky not to score. Azeez put over a superb cross field ball, he chested it down, went across the defender and struck it low across the keeper, and it came back off the post. That would have been the cherry on top and a great moment for him.

Downes is a rock at the back. It was hard on Pearce, but with Downes and O'Connor playing well then we should stick to that pairing.

It was good to see us win a game during my holiday, and it made the trip back a lot quicker. Back to Gullsplayer for me for the rest of the season.

I can't imagine Blackburn would have let us keep O 'Connor if he isnt going to play, so its a difficult one. Let him go back and play Pearce and Downes, and have no cover again, or play O 'Connor. We need the option and who knows, maybe Pearce needed a rest after playing so much so soon after recovering from illness.

As said on another thread, I suspect the only way Knill gets decent loan players is by promising to play them if fit. Which is fine if the loanee is covering for an injured player but once the injured player is fit again,he can't get in the team eg Pearce. Doesn't build too much spirit in the players who are here permanently particularly for peole like Pearce who dropped down the league to get regular football! Hope McCourt will go back as both Harding adn Mozika are getting close to fitness and a Andy says we need a stable line up. Great also to have a striker who can head the ball - what's the point in having 4 wingers if no one can get on the end of crosses!
Great to get a win (and by 2 goals!) which will lift the camp.

We are 21st in the league now and desperate for a few points. If at the end of November we are a few positions higher and have a bit more of a cushion over the bottom two then we might have slightly more room to give our own youngsters game time. Would we have won yesterday with Pearce, Lathrope, Craig and Hawley playing instead of the four loanees? In my eyes, they have given us some extra quality and helped us pick up some points.

It is a hard balance to get right, because developing our own players is the future of the Club. But a lot of the teams around us at the bottom of the table are bigger clubs with more resources to turn things around. We need points on the board quickly before we get stuck in the bottom few positions. After yesterday, I would not change Downes and O'Connor as a pairing. McCallum can win something in the air and has been very good up front in the two games he has played so far. Azeez is a very pacey and talented player and has already scored a few goals. McCourt is the only one you think we could lose with no impact, and that is only because we have so many similar players who could step in, but he is still a very good player that adds something to the squad, if we didn't have a central midfielder then he would have been a good loan signing.

3-1 win at Bury. I was going to ask for a savoury 99 at half time but I had a pie instead.
